Also watched Sister Death on Netflix.

I felt like it was what I?d hoped The Nun would have been like. Spanish language and genuinely creepy. Very atmospheric with the pious convent having no electricity, leading to some nice internal night time shots with very little light or candles illuminating the shadows.

Mulan (2020)

When her father is unable to join the army due to an old injury from past battles, Mulan, his young daughter, decides to disguise herself as a man and takes his place instead when a warlord and his army vow to depose the Chinese Emperor.

It's an entertaining historical Chinese action film based on folklore and a live action remake of a Disney feature length cartoon. It looks and sounds great and is well acted with some beautifully constructed set pieces. However being Disney it lacks the intensity and impact of other historical epics but is never the less enjoyable enough to fill a couple of hours.

I can't believe i didn't recognise Jet Li was playing the Emperor.

I, Monster. Christopher Lee does Jekyll & Hyde. Boringly. This early 70s Amicus flick is about as boring as The First Omen, just mercifully shorter.

Think I’ll stick to going to late night Saturday showing at the cinema if anythings to go by from the last 3 films I’ve been to see,

Ghostbusters frozen Empire, 9 ppl
Late night with the Devil, 13ppl
Civil war, just little old me on my Tod,

I enjoyed civil war, some great action scenes, more told from a reporters point of view and the things they have to do and risking their lives by being in the firing line just to get the perfect shot on camera.

It?s not like that in my local (Liverpool City Centre) it?s full of drunk people up and down to the toilet all the way through the film.

Have you try going on a different day at different time, I go now on Saturdays the last showing,
When you think about it sat night probably time when majority of ppl are at occasions like a 21st party /wedding / engagement that type of thing, ppl rarely do these type of thing during the week, or Saturday nights their night out with their friends or out on a romantic meal with their other halfor something. That's only explanation I can think of why it's so Quiet.

Default Unseen Movie 55

Spawn. 1997.

A mercenary is killed and sent to hell only to return as soldier for the devil and goes on a revenge spree.

Michael Jai White is the somewhat anti-hero in this who works under Martin Sheen's Spec Op division and seems to be enjoying the life of corruption and shady deals and never allows anyone to leave the organisation. There is plenty of action in this and good make up effects for Simmons/Spawn and visual effects. John Leguizamo playing a small fat clown that's full of wit and sarcasm and Nicol Williams who's talent is pretty much wasted. The downside to this is the makers seem to want to cram alot into the film for the running time (90 minutes) and looks to be rushing the movie rather than taking their time. Entertaining enough.

I saw Spawn at the cinema and really wasn't impressed but subsequent viewings have improved it for me. I was thinking about getting it on Blu.

All that brought me back to it a second time was Melinda Clarke. But i'm glad she did as i've seen it five or six times now.

Showed my wife 2019's Joker. Pleasingly she also liked it (I was worried), said it was a big surprise. I liked it more on second viewing, I would now award 8/10 rather than 7/10 - a score she agrees with. We're both looking forward to the sequel.
