Police Story 2. 1988. Jackie Chan returns as the supercop Kevin, after his unorthodox way of capturing the crime lord, he is now demoted to traffic duty, after the crime lord is freed her goes after Kevin and the police are dealing with a explosive blackmailing terrorist. This one is like three stories in one, A crime lord out for revenge for being put away just before being beaten up, a terrorist trying to extort money from the city or something else is blown up and the main character's love life is either on or off. Jackie as per his persona does his own stunts as does Maggie Cheung who was seriously hurt and couldn't finish the film, the camera equipment doesn't escape being bashed which Jackie's face tells it all in the closing credits. This was a sequel that is near on par with the first film but is a lot better and near faster paced. MV5BMTQ3MzM2NzQ5N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNTgzMzAwMQ@@._V1_.jpg

Unseen Movie 89 Satan's Black Wedding. 1976. Anyone familiar with Nick Millard films like Criminally Insane or Death Nurse know not to expect much as this is another one of his low budget movies, this time on vampire/Dracula theme. Greg Baddock (in his only film) travels to some other country to find the answers to his sister's death and comes across a priest who is into the satanic stuff and finds out a few little secrets. Millard films seem to be hitting the 1 hour mark and this is certainly not the best vampire flick ever made. Day becomes night with the blue filter and everyone seems grey, the acting is not at the best and fairly certain the screams are dubbed in. The teeth are certainly more comical than what they should be and the fake blood looks more like paint than anything else. THE BEAST IN THE CELLAR. ( 1970 ) Beryl Reid and Flora Robson are on top form as two squabbling old biddies, ( literally ) housing a terrible secret, as a spate of murders of soldiers nearby causes local panic. Quite talky at times, with a few splashes of blood here and there, I guess this was pointing to the latter day films such as TOWER OF EVIL and Pete Walker?s terror films, which ramped up the gore and violence. The last time I saw this was a muddy tv ( or dvd) version where you could hardly tell what was going on at times, so this Blu Ray from 88 Films is a revelation. SMILE ( 2022 ) A psychiatrist witnessses the gruesome suicide of one of her patients and soon uncovers a series of similar incidents. I?m not much of a fan of modern horror - it seems full of sequels or remakes, so it?s not often I find an original one like this that hits the spot. There is a real sense of creepiness and dread, with plenty of unexpected twists and turns. There aren?t many jump scares - there are a few, but they are integral to the story and are GOOD! One in particular ( I won?t spoiler it here ) nearly had me jumping out of my seat. Before it results in the inevitable shit sequels, check this one out. Recommended. |

The Amorous Prawn (1962) Based on a stage play this is a typical British sixties farce. Not as raunchy as those to come in later years, The Amorous Prawn is an easy going film with the laugh out loud moments loaded in at the finale however the rest of the film is a thoroughly entertaining romp about a soon to be retired army General whose wife realises they can't afford that delightful place in the country they desperately want to move into. So whilst hubby's away on a final directive she turns the military headquarters into a swanky guest house for a couple of brash Americans with the General's army staff in tow. When people fancy a lazy Sunday afternoon film then this would be a perfect choice. The Amorous Prawn is the type of film that is probably instantly forgotten but it's light-hearted fun whilst it's on the screen. The cast are a delight from Cecil Parker's general to Ian Carmichael's Corporal to Liz Fraser's saucy Private. This was very enjoyable second time round. Network's dvd looks very good upscaled. |

Firepower Set in a future (At the time) Los Angeles, there is a designated zone (Rechristened The Hell Zone) where crime is legal and Police don't go. However after a notorious gang keeps on committing crimes. the Police arrest their leader, played by Jim Hellwig (Who I didn't realize was The Ultimate Warrior) when the rest of the gang break him out and escape into the Hell Zone, 2 Policemen played by Chad McQueen and Gary Daniels go undercover in order to bring him down. In order to do this they have to fight in the Death Ring. One of P/M Entertainment's better films, I kept on seeing the Trailer a lot and bought the VHS (As a present to myself after finishing College) and re-watched the DVD. This Film is so entertaining and is my kind of flick. The roles are done really well and Hellwig is certainly a good bad guy. Good fight scenes as well. Despicable Me 4 Gru, family and Minions are back and are relocated to a safe house after a criminal escapes from a Prison and vows revenge. To tell you the truth, it's just more of the same, nothing new, basically you know what to expect. Cobweb A bullied boy hears knocks on his wall and has conversations with a mysterious voice. His Parents played by Lizzy Caplin and Antony Starr act all strange and threatening and his Substitute Teacher. I bought the Blu-Ray on impulse (It was my birthday) and I am a big fan of Antony Starr as he is brilliant in Banshee and The Boys but I put it on the back burner. I wasn't sure what to expect but this is a very entertaining Horror Film with great performances all around especially from Caplin and Starr who played the crazed Parents and the boy who played Peter. |

Unseen Movie 90 Giallo. 2009. Adrien Brody is the Italian inspector on the hunt for a serial killer and Emmanuelle Seigner's sister has been kidnapped and both team up to find her before she becomes the next victim. Brody has done some good films to his credit and working with Argento this should have worked but seems like Argento took a laid back approach to this, yes it has his traits of a slasher but not his usual standards. There was a good close up of a needle in the face and a face meeting a hammer, but the story line itself wasn't appealing to me. With the title and Dario we should be expecting the master show some great work but it's more torture porn and the scooby doo killer reveal was a "really that's it" moment. I may return back to this one but won't be anytime soon. MV5BMTk2Mzk2NDM3MF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNDg0MjIyMw@@._V1_.jpg
