The Return Of The Exorcist. 1975. Teen Peter takes a picture of a naked woman by a waterfall, when the picture is developed the woman is no longer present. He goes back to the area and finds a amulet and slowly becomes possessed. Another cheesey Exorcist rip off by the Italians, this time round the film starts with the possessed teen Peter and then we are giving the back story in flashback sequences of the possession. Franco Garofalo from Hell Of The Living dead is the cult leader who pops up during the film who also likes to engage his followers in one big orgy while calling upon Satan. The biggest star of the film is Richard Conte as the priest sent in to do battle but he only pops up towards the end, one decent paycheck for him before passing away. There is no head turning, some hot pea soup and bed levitating/shaking but nothing spectacular, yet I still find this entertaining. The Devil Rides Out. 1968. A classic vintage shocker from Hammer based on Dennis Wheatley book with Christopher Lee headlining the film as a protagonist trying to save the son of a old friend from Charles Gray and his satanic followers. Right from the start we are thrown into the film and from then on we re glued to the screen, Gray's performance as Mocata is certainly menacing from the first meet and is able to carry on the persona all the way through. The visual effects are a bit outdated but still worthy of the shock and horror blended in with the dark toned atmosphere that Terence Fisher knew how to create perfectly for the setting of the film. With Mr Lee, Patrick Mower and Leon Greene creating the perfect bond of friendship throughout the film as they served in story WWI and Lee creating a somewhat father figure shows the credible acting skills and and making the characters likeable, while Greene 's character is somewhat a sceptic to a believer in the supernatural and occult. A solid film that still makes your hair stand up. The_Devil_Rides_Out_(1968_film_poster).jpg

The Doorway (2000) A group of college students helping to renovate and clean an old house find it's actually one of the gates to hell. From the brief summary above i'm sure you'll think Fulci to yourselves. In fact it does come across as kind of a mash up of Fulci old dark houses at the gateway to helll with teen horror such as Night of the Demons and The Hazing. There's not a lot you haven't seen before in The Doorway, except maybe having a reasonable sized appearance from Roy Scheider. The film is nicely paced, reasonably well performed and full of the requisite blood, guts, nudity and gloopy effects you'd hope from a film like this. An Irish made Roger Corman production, there's not an awful lot to dislike about this film as long as you don't have an issue with C-grade direct to video horror. The AV quality of this dvd was really quite good to say it was released by the cheap and cheerful Film 2000 back in the day. |

MV5BZWIyMDQyNjEtOGQ1NS00NmNiLTlhMjktZTNmODMyYjlhODJiXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMjIyNjE2NA@@._V1_.jpg BACK ROOM BOY (1942) Arthur Askey is sent to a remote creepy Scottish lighthouse as a weather monitor. Stories of people going mad at the lighthouse and reports of a mermaid play on his mind. Survivors of a shipwreck turn up and then one by one mysteriously start to disappear .. Good fun movie which is a nice companion to Askey's earlier film 'The Ghost Train' (1941) and at times gets a bit hectic! "I thank You" |

Gang Related Jim Belushi and Tupac Shakur are 2 crooked Cops who Murder an Undercover D.E.A. Agent and their attempts to cover up and frame an homeless Dennis Quaid doesn't go to plan when it turns out he's from a rich family, somewhat of a saint and has top Attorney, James Earl Jones help defend him. This is a very entertaining Film with some really good performances from it's main stars. I especially liked the looks on the faces of Belushi and Shakur when the attempted frame ups of known villains don't go right (As they all had alibis) and the Prosecutors when evidence goes missing and changed in another case and wondering how a Homeless Man has a powerful Lawyer. Ricochet A thoroughly entertaining brisk 1991 Thriller which sees Denzel Washington take down man psycho, John Lithgow and receive promotion. However after Lithgow escapes and fakes his death. He makes Washington suffer by wrecking his life and murdering his friends. Ice T co-stars has Washington's friend who's a criminal boss who helps him. Again really good performances from the main stars. Having not seen this in decades, other than a couple of scenes, it was like watching a new movie. |

Unseen Movies 100 The Sacrament. 2013. Patrick who works with VICE, a company that deals with bizarre news travels to a remote religious community and joined by Jake and Sam who work with him to find his sister, and slowly realise there is more to the community than some make it out to be. Ti West has brought us some good and questionable movies to the screen and ups the anti with a found footage movie that is set in a place called Eden Parish in the middle of nowhere. Clearly a rip on Jim Jones and Jonestown massacre with the not so great drinking fresh orange juice and paranoia of the intending apocalypse that Jones always predicted would happen and his suicide. Gene Jones plays the religious nut everyone calls "father" and the way he conducts the interview infront of his followers is brilliant with decent writing that starts off good then able to twist things around so he is asking the questions. I want to say this was great movie but I can't, it's good for the tense moments and acting. sacrament_poster.jpg
