![]() The Undertaker And His Pals. 1966. Nope this has nothing to do with the wrestler and his ministry of darkness but a funeral director and his associates who run a restaurant and bump off people using body parts for meat supplements. Ok look at the title and the year and you know not to take this seriously, total B movie fest with bad acting, bad jokes, low budget and it's only 63 minutes long but surprisingly entertaining , even the kills are laughable but certainly passed the time. download.jpeg Deadly Weapons. 1974. A busty show girl goes after the mobsters who killed her man and uses her badonkers to get revenge on them. I got no idea why I came back to this one as the lead character has her puppies out most of the film and gives men a good reason to smile while being suffocated in between them. Yeah the film is a bit lame and can't help but laugh at the acting, the squealing and the plot itself but Chesty Morgan was worth seeing in this. download (1).jpeg

![]() Gator Bait (1974) Think I Spit on Your Grave thrown in a cauldron with the faux nature documentary The Legend of Boggy Creek, add a tablespoonful of Southern Comfort, leave to simmer then add a splash of boat chasing from Live and Let Die and you have Gator Bait. A fun yet also thoroughly crude exploitation piece that has a nasty streak throughout. It's a simply plotted film. Whilst attempting to molest the lovely Desiree (a big haired Claudia Jennings) a sadistic hillbilly's son is accidentally killed by the police chief's son. Blaming it falsely on Desiree, the police join up with the incestuous hillbilly family in hunting down Desiree and her two children in the untamed Louisiana swamps. What follows is a vicious game of cat and mouse involving rape and general all round brutality as the net closes in on Desiree. Or does it? Whilst you can at times wander off and make a brew due to the endless hick chatter about what they'll do with her when they get her and nature doc style swampland travails, it's all nicely framed with the dense swamps bringing natural atmosphere and decently acted and you might even fall in love with Jennings. All in all Gator Bait is a film i really enjoyed for a second time and would heartily recommend to those who want a bit of nasty exploitation. The US dvd i have looks like a real cheapie but is actually a special edition laden with extras and a beautiful 1:33:1 print |

Then the Pandemic hit and delayed Black Widow but during Lockdown that was when Disney+ came out and the Falcon and Winter Soldier came out which due to a somewhat captive audience, did rather well. Which I believe lead to Marvel believing that there was such a appetite still for all things Marvel, that they churned out more Series and more Films like Shang-Chi and Eternals but those Movies didn't do as well. Another thing that has put me off now is that you have to have watched certain series in order to know who was who when they appeared in Films like Doctor Strange And The Multiverse Of Madness. |

![]() Pelican Brief 2 Supreme Court Justices are Murdered and Law Student (Julia Roberts) comes up with theory which turns out to be accurate therefore is the target of Assassins. She turns to Investigative Reporter (Denzel Washington) in order to expose the conspiracy. When I rented it out when I was younger I didn't like it as I thought it was boring but after seeing the Trailer again, I found a cheap DVD and got it as I thought that know I was older, I would understand it more. Nope it was so boring, it was so meh, nothing much really happened. What To Expect When You're Expecting Enjoyable Comedy/Drama which chronicles the Pregnancies of several characters with some connections to each other (Think Valentines Day) Got a rather good cast including 3 members of Pitch Perfect, a member of The Boys, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez and Dennis Quaid. It does get emotional in places as well as being funny (Brooklyn Decker having one of the easiest Pregnancies in history) one sneeze and the Baby is delivered. |

There are some absolute classics such as A Time to Kill and The Firm and some decent ones like The Rainmaker, The Client and Christmas with the Kranks. Pretty sure you'll be familiar with those anyway. |

![]() Cat and Mouse (1974) Kirk Douglas stars in this dark drama about a biology teacher estranged from his wife and son. Walking away totally from his former life with only a case of biology instruments, he calls the police with a terrifying statement 'Tonight, i'm going to kill somebody'. This British oddity set in Montreal captures that 70's grittiness that encapsulates films like Dirty Harry and The French Connection. Douglas is excellent. At first coming across like the cruel nickname of 'Mousy' that his students mock him with but spiraling deeper into despair and madness, culminating in some tense, grim murder and stalking sequences that place the film in slasher territory. Cat and Mouse felt like a huge influence on Kirk's son Michael's film Falling Down from 1993. There were so many similarities - A Douglas for one. A man on the edge of sanity trying desperately to catch up with his estranged child, the killing spree, not to mention the cracked lens in the glasses both characters wear. Soundtrack fans should love the brilliantly realized, oh so creepy score by Ron Grainer. Grainer isn't the only Doctor Who link. Producer Beryl Virtue's daughter Sue married future Who showrunner Steven Moffat. Another great release of a lost gem from Network. I keep hoping StudioCanal will give it a re-release on Blu. |

![]() Seen it three times now. I like it. The dvd looks pretty impressive image wise and the sound is excellent. It's out of print now. There's a copy on Music Magpie if you can't stream it anywhere. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cat-Mouse-D...d%2C459&sr=1-3 |
