I'll have to get that now it's down to in price. Although i'm not all that keen on the 'mad scientist' movies from that era.

Loch Ness: They Created a Monster (2023)

Just watched this on BBC2. An hour and a half look at the various characters behind the sightings of Nessie in the peak decade for sightings - the 1970's. With most on the 'hunters branded fakes or in the case of Frank Searle who lived on the Loch side in a caravan with various women outright deranged.

Funniest were the Japanese who were going to capture five monsters and send one to Princess Anne as a wedding gift. Most outrageous - the petrol bombing of a rival group be Searle.

Sadly this really had sod all to do with the mythology of the area.

I've only seen the first two so far. Calling Dr Death and Weird Woman, both enjoyable if nothing groundbreaking. I can't remember much about either though other than i know i enjoyed them in the moment.
Amazon currently has it for fifteen quid and for that price I'd not be upset if it only contained the two I've seen so far.

I used to be absolutely fascinated with the idea of the Loch Ness monster. Even today I'd love there to be something conclusive, even if it was far removed from the more fantastical claims. My wife and I took a trip up there not long after we were married, around 1999. It's still one of my most fondly remembered holidays.

Yeah, i love it up there. I think there's a bit of monster hunter in me, haha!

There's also a hell of a lot of fine single malts up behind the bar at the Loch Ness Country House Hotel that i had a couple of evening meals at.

Aw man I'd love to go back. I don't think I truly appreciated it at the time. We stayed a few miles North of Inverness in an old stone cottage just outside the village of Dingwall. Feels like a lifetime ago.
I love the idea of cryptozoology and I suppose for a Brit Nessie is the obvious daydream. Single malts are a good incentive too. We visited a distillery when we there and to this day I've no idea which it actually was.

Le foto proibite di una signora per bene (The Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion) (1970)

Stylish slice of early 70s giallo that oozes class and suspense. Directed with flair by Luciano Ercoli, the film follows the glamorous but vulnerable and naive Minou (Dagmar Lassander), whose seemingly idyllic life is shattered when a mysterious blackmailer (Simon Andreu, in the type of part he was born for) claims her husband (Pier Paolo Capponi, sporting a savage side-parting) is a murderer. As she?s drawn deeper into a web of seduction and paranoia, her confidante Dominique (Nieves Navarro, hotly man-eating her way across the screen at every opportunity) adds a sultry, free-spirited contrast. The dreamy cinematography and score, chic 70s costumes, and a script laced with Diabolique-influenced intrigue make for a captivating watch, culminating in a feminist-tinged finale that flips expectations.

One of the best 'sexy' giallos out there. Recommended.

This was the cover to the version I had

Yeah, I had the book but I don't think mine had that cover.

The book is more expansive than the movie versions. I must admit, I'm not a Lieber fan. He's good but I alway's seemed to get to the end of a chapter and think that could have been better. Still the story is good, producing two movie adaptations - one decent, one very good. I'd welcome another version. I think there is enough in the book to merit a film on a bigger budget, fleshing the novel out further.
