Going to attempt to watch Lawrence of Arabia for the first time it's a bank holiday weekend and I'm dying sick so this is the weekend to finally do it. I know I should be ashamed of myself not seeing such a classic film

Chernobyl Diaries. 2010.

Six tourists hire a guy for a extreme tour round the town of Pripyat where Chernobyl disaster happened and discover they may not be alone.

This did start out promising especially when extreme tours were a big thing and only took a matter of time for someone to do a film about it. As usual there is always one person that is hyped and another who isn't keen on going to a area that has had some bad history to it's name. There is a few laughs along the way with one or two jump scares along the way then night falls and that's when it falls apart. This is like a bad version of The Hills Have Eyes that goes nowhere. Even with the so called plot twist on who the people are hiding in the shadows, why did someone not mention what they caught on a photo? Any other person would have mentioned it and got the hell out of dodge. Twice seen this and laying it to bed and never coming back to it.

Lawrence_of_arabia_ver3_xxlg.jpg

British Lieutenant Lawrence Is sent to Arabia to aid Prince Faisal and be the middle man between the Arabs and the British army but Lawrence in conflicted and decides lead the Arabs into battle to take a Turkish settlement and port. But the harsh reality of war wears Lawrence down and he starts to question his own identity which he is rapidly losing to the desert.

As I mentioned last night this was my first time watching the film and I was blown away by the beauty of the whole thing the cinematography is out of this world every single shot is so beautiful everything thing was just done on a epic scale watching man horse and camel ride thought the desert filled me with wonder and joy just a fascinating land so hostile but so beautiful. Aside from visually the music sound and acting are all top tier and for a film that's almost 4 hours long I honestly didn't feel the time go by. My only criticism of the whole thing was Anthony Quinns fake nose .

With the length of the film I don't think it's one I'd return to often maybe next time I'm sick I'll throw it on and marvel at it's beauty once again and it may raise my spirits just like it has done this morning.

Sisu,

We enjoy certain films for whatever reason, but now and again a film comes along that's is so well made in every sense, realistic, scenery, no silly dialogue or daft and annoying characters they're classed as a cinematic experience, as I mentioned earlier about films like Dune,
Now I get action has been for years a tadge as you call them more crash bang wallop boom Micheal style, it's silly its fun and entertaining,
But when you get a film that's filmed as well as Dune in how spectacular it is I think it is slightly ruined when you add too much Micheal Bay-style action it takes the edge away from how great the film is, and that's exactly what I think happened here with this film, it could have been a modern masterpiece but sadly let down by the Ott action, especially when he clings to the plane edging toward the back end of the film.

It's fantastic, Nordy. The Blu looks gorgeous. It had an 8K scan in 2012 i think and it's Super Panavision photography looks amazing.

So put your phone down for three and a half hours and enjoy.

Edit - Oh i see you've already watched it. Haha.

It was alright until then, then got a bit silly Ott and ridiculous, and surviving the plane crash pft, otherwise a cracking film.

World War 1 and the British are held back in the trenches by a strong German line held up in an old farm house of heavy artillery and gunners. A groupe of miners have been brought in to help dig a tunnel under the German stronghold and blow it up so the army can push forward.

This was a brilliant film and quite a sad film I mean when war films are done right now can you not feel anything but sadness young men scared young men sent to their deaths ripped from their mother's father brothers sisters and lovers. I'll use a phrase from a video game because it sums up war perfectly the times may change the flags may change the weaponery may change the rules of engagement may change but WAR ....WAR NEVER CHANGES.

Well worth a watch it's not an action film its more of a showcase of bravery even if your bricking it but people can muster the courage to do the seemingly impossible it's in every single one of us it's just most of any of us have ever been pushed far enough for it to be shown and because of men to like these we have lived in times where we never had to.
