Hellbound is the only Hellraiser sequel I personally care for.

Cigarette burns is Carpenters best work in years in my opinion. The Argento installments are quite good also.

I quite liked 3, which was more of an action horror, it's certainly more lively than the first two in terms of big set pieces, but lacks the subtle nuances of the first film. Bloodlines had a neat central concept but the ham fisted way it was produced ruined it. I have seen all the other sequels, but none of them are really of any note. Inferno was okay, but nothing more. I actually thought the latest one, Revelations, was something of an improvement. The absolute worst was Hellworld (even Lance Henriksen looks embarrassed to be in this one) followed by Deader. Both dreadful films.

I wonder if the remake of the first film will ever come to fruition?

It's not as bad as you'd think from what I remember, I've only seen it once via a well known video uploading site under it's original title of Buio Omega, might be worth checking it out there first

Start with the Criterion Collection BDs – you can't really go wrong!

Definitely. Depends on what you like but Scream Factory are great for cult releases.

I'm curious about how it's 'sort of' region free personally!
