You can't really class it the same as a Judge Dredd remake. |

I think even using the word 'remake' around the new Judge Dredd film is a bit harsh. A bit like calling Batman Begins a remake. |

Dredd isnt a remake. Basically 2000ad hated the stallone version, as did most dredd fans as it pretty much screwed the character up at every level. The new dredd is an attempt to do dredd as he should be done, and I for one cannot wait. |

And I read that the lead in DREDD will under no circumstances 'remove the helmet' tho the stills show that the uniforms are toned down, think it will have a dull, grimey look, potential to be a cracker.

bad remakes
remakes its a tricky business as quite a few of my fave eighties films are remakes the thing , the fly and the blob(altho that possibly may be 90's). i enjoyed dawn of dead remake and i adore original but on the other hand i loved hills have eyes remake but have never been a big fan of original. As for bad remakes haloween boiled my piss but i know plenty of people that loved it, zombie badly missed the point of the shape and made him a whitetrash wrestlemaniac pity, i enjoyed his previous films. Wicker should never have been remade. same for psycho but i cant attest to its quality as have never watched for fear of giving myself an ulcer, but i got to say one of the biggest pile of shit i have seen is the carnival of souls remake produced by wes craven it was utter toss. |

I used to be totally against remakes but now I don't really care. The remakes don't distract from the originals and will always bring new fans to genre cinema. Also, I realised that remakes and sequels have a fine tradition in the horror genre, how many Dracula or Frankenstein films can people name?

How is Judge Dredd a remake? Might as well call every comic film that's been one more than once a remake. And whilst we're at it, all those Shakespeare adaptations, bunch of remakes And as for The Thing, that's a bloody remake already! |

I'm excited by this as it looks like Nicolas Winding Refn is going to direct. He said in the recent issue of Sight & Sound, "It's the original, classic disco sci-fi!"
