Worst remake, easy...Day of the Dead.
Day of the Dead remake is just a crime against film horror zombies and HUMANITY

I don't dislike the Day remake, as a zombie flick its fine, however it really needs a change of title as it is a travesty as a remake.

is day even a remake? I say this because aside from a few character names the films share little to no resembalance whatsoever!

As for nightmare on elm street. Think movies like the cell or inception for creatively done dream sequences. The more surreal and disturbing the better. Not just another load of boiler room b******s like the reamake!

Also is no one remembering the fog remake? (admittedly I try to forget it) absolutely dreadful from beginning to end!

The only real problem with the Day Of The Dead "remake" is the title. As with Prom Night (awful), House Of Wax (surprisingly good) and others, it isn't a remake at all, it just uses the same title as a previous film. Only the merest thematic relationship exists (ie the flesh-eating living dead). I cannot see it as an actually remake. I also think it's an OK bit of pulp and one of the better of the "fast moving zombies" sub-genre. It's a darn sight better than Zack Snyder's remake (and it is a remake) if Dawn Of The Dead in my book!

Marcus Nispel must surely be the Emperor of the bad remake - both The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday The 13th were absolutely bloody appalling.

Sorry I disagree, the problem with day of the dead is even if you claim its not a remake, it uses a well known zombie title to sell its awful film. Having a few character names the same as the orginal confirms its remake status.
It came out after the well made dawn of the dead remake. The scene in day of the dead with the zombie running across the wall still makes me shudder. It isn't better than Snyder effort. Yeah Snyder failed to add the isolation factor of the orginal, but its not a bad movie at all and had some great elements to it.

I actually like most of the remakes that I've seen, not including Day of the Dead, yeah they aren't a patch on the originals I know, but I still think some of them are good films in their own right

Default waxing lyrical

as much as i sneer about remakes a lot of my faves are remakes, the thing(not the prequel), the fly ,the blob. I remember reading somewhere the original script for the under rated house of wax remake was in fact meant to be a remake of tourist trap. Somewhere i have the double disc with modern house of wax and the vincent price house of wax, which as a bonus has the one that started it all mysteries of the wax museum. But i wish hollywood would get some fresh ideas.

Starsky and Hutch was a good reimaging of a great show. Loved the cast and the ending with the old cast ended it nicely.

Day Of The Dead isn't a great film, for sure, but I think it's an enjoyable enough bit of fluff. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it, but it made me smile. A nice bit of throwaway silliness.

Dawn Of The Dead, however, tries very hard (too hard, in fact it's forced) to be a serious attempt at a classic zombie film and, to my eyes, fails in every way. It's not only one of the worst remakes I've seen, it's one of the worst films I have seen. If Romero's original didn't exist, Snyder's effort would still be a miserable thing. I genuinely cannot see what people like about it. I think it's utterly dreadful and devoid of merit.

Maybe I'll try to watch it again to see if I can pick up something, but last time I tried to rewatch it, I turned it off not long in and straight away deleted it from my PVR!

But then, films I thought were rubbish often have people branding me as "weird" or a "dickhead" or something, so it doesn't surprise me any more when the tide is against me.

again. Anyone classifying a film as the worst remake of all time needs to see the fog remake. I cant believe noone else thinks this total turd of a movie is the worst remake ever.
