I've seen The Fog remake twice, once to watch it for the first time and a second time to make sure my verdict was correct before i gave it away, yes Keirarts -

It really is truly shite

but i am sure i have seen one or two worse remakes, films i have fast forwarded through they were so bad, i think Prom Night was one.

Yeah, the remake of The Fog was pretty poor, but it wasn't offensively bad. It was just a nothing-y crap film, easy to ignore. "Meh" more than anything. Seen far worse remakes.

Carpenters Fog is a great ghost story! THe ghosts are much better in carpenters one and look very creepy, the remakes look like rejects from return of the king, cgi monstrositys that aint at all scary.

oh, the vanishing remake deserves a nod for the stupid f*****g ending, and the remake of the haunting for being s**t ALL THE WAY THROUGH!

Dawn Of The Dead, however, tries very hard (too hard, in fact it's forced) to be a serious attempt at a classic zombie film and, to my eyes, fails in every way. It's not only one of the worst remakes I've seen, it's one of the worst films I have seen. If Romero's original didn't exist, Snyder's effort would still be a miserable thing. I genuinely cannot see what people like about it. I think it's utterly dreadful and devoid of merit.

Maybe I'll try to watch it again to see if I can pick up something, but last time I tried to rewatch it, I turned it off not long in and straight away deleted it from my PVR!

But then, films I thought were rubbish often have people branding me as "weird" or a "dickhead" or something, so it doesn't surprise me any more when the tide is against me.
Hey dude, people should not brand you a 'dickhead' for your taste in films. Would be a sad world if everyone liked romero's dawn of the dead, and a weird world if everyone liked day of the dead remake.
I liked the Dawn remake because I thought it was dark, scary, and it was nice to see some real money put into a zombie film as appose to the rubbish cgi filled survival of the dead.
The nods in the remake of dawn, like the helicopter from the orginal, the car crashing into the petrol station from night of the living dead, and various cameo's made the film look respectful to the old one. It did change the plot a great deal, and I wished there'd been a better isolation time spent in the mall. But I do like it was different and stands on its own.
As for the fog remake, I never made it to the end of that film, but I can live with that.
