The Shining did rub me up the wrong way for many years, just the way it was one of those films that crossed over, helped no doubt by the names involved with it. While I still think it's overrated, it has grown on me in recent years, as the location/set is admittedly pretty special.

Thanks - Scarface is the pits, I've been at odds with this film for years. A good first hour but it goes downhill rapidly from there. De Palma's best film is still is Phantom of the Paradise...

Glad it's not just me then, I haven't seen Phantom of the Paradise, but my favourite De Palma film has got to be Carrie

Carlito's Way or Body Double for me.

The Black Dahlia being his worst imo, but i haven't seen all his films.

Instead of waiting around for the film to appear can I just mention my dislike of The Hobbit films... Jesus, I hate those Lord of the Rings films and there's two more on the way...

Three actually

My 8 year old son wants to go watch these at the cinema, so I've borrowed the LOTR DVD's off my sister so we can watch them in the upcoming weeks before, only ever managed the first one and nodded off(more due to the fact I'd just finished a night shift at work than the film itself)

Me too, I think it's a great film, R Lee Ermey is amazing in this!
