It can be studied academically or as a way to better understand how viewers at the time would have approached a film, but it's not something that – trailers aside – works as entertainment in the same way.

I'd have preferred Overlord to be a new film about the battle for Normandy rather than a horror which will most likely be a let down.

As far as i can tell there aren't any decent war time horror films aside from Death Watch.

I've seen trailers for The House with a Clock in its Walls at the cinema and it looks really interesting; a dark family movie which has the potential to be scary and entertaining.

Outpost was average and Dead Snow isn't a war time horror film. It features Nazi zombies but is set in the present day with teens rather than military.
