I've still not seen Blazing Saddles.

I bought it a couple of years ago but i must have had a mindwarp and actually ordered Silverado instead, which is also a good film, but not actually Blazing Saddles.

Yes, i believe so. At least a film can be perfect for the moment depending on your mood etc.

Some films which i found perfect or nearly perfect:

Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975)
At first the plot is flawless, beautiful yet disturbing, and always keeps you awake the entire film, great cinematogaphy and music which at times really gave me goosebumps. A perfect film to watch along with your morning coffee. Or you might prefer your royal tea partys?

Sunset Boulevard (1950)
Not much to argue about here. The bizarre story of the backside of Hollywood-fame, false hopes and guilty consiouness wraps up and fits like a han in a glove. Masterpiece.

In the Heat of the Night (1967)
A. Must. See. Very. Important. Film.

There are perfect films, at least I think so. For me, the following are perfect films:

Casablanca
Aliens: Special Edition
Goodfellas
Last of the Mohicans (Michael Mann version - made so by a perfect score)
Its a Wonderful Life
Dirty Dancing
Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs

Close to perfection:

Dawn of the Dead (let down only by a sagging middle section lasting no more than 5 minutes)
The Great Escape (let down solely by the Donald Pleasance character)
Metropolis Moroder version (let down solely by the lengthy creation of the Maria robot sequence)

I'm sure there are more in both categories...

Some interesting choices there, James.

I'd strongly disagree on Carrie (it's very 'lacking' compared to the book), but each to their own etc.!
