Blood Orgy of the She-Devils (1972)

Blood Orgy of the She-Devils! What a title, what possibilities?, what cornucorpia of sinful desires and blood shed will assault your senses?

Well unfortunately the answer is none. The title, like the film is a load of bollocks. The nearest we get to bloodshed is a woman having her nails clipped. As for an orgy? The film makes Carry on Camping seem like a hardcore f**kfest.

As for storyline? Half the film was taken up with a guy talking about witchcraft, droning on over light weight images of witch torture.

At one point a character says "That was the shortest chess game i've ever seen" which is ironic because Blood Orgy felt like the longest, dullest film i'd ever seen.

It actually makes me wonder why a PG movie like this makes it into the Nightmare USA book in the first place. - Bewildering!

Blood Sabbath (1972)

David, a Vietnam veteran, is walking through the woods one day when he is nearly knocked down by a hippie-bus, is sprayed with beer, and then shortly afterwards is accosted by lots of naked women who rob him. He awakes to find a beautiful water nymph tending over him. Smitten, David tries to learn all he can about this mysterious girl and in the process stumbles across a coven of witches, headed by Dyanne 'Ilsa' Thorne who inhabit the surrounding area, and whose main purpose in life concerns stealing children's souls and dancing around topless in black underwear all day long.

After learning that he and his mysterious nymph cannot be together in the mortal world due to him having a soul, David offers his soul as a trade for that of a child so that he and his water-dwelling fancy piece can be together forever.

At its core, Blood Sabbath is a tale of two beings attempting to overcome all obstacles to be together, this is however wrapped up in a dreamy, trippy, hippie ensemble of set pieces consisting mainly of lesbian witchcraft rituals and bongo music, with references to Vietnam peppered throughout. Truly one groovy little psychedelic head-trip of a film.

Hopefully you dig it, Nos.

It's a little slow and silly in places but worth a look.

I've just compared our two reviews of Blood Sabbath B_E.

Apart from you going into the plot a little more they are pretty similar.

Is it?

I thought it was an excuse for Thorne to jiggle her jubblies around.

Yeah, whilst it is a little slow and rough around the edges, I enjoyed the experience and totally imbibed the vibe!

Like you said in your review though, it's a tough film to recommend unless you like that sort of thing.

That's not necessarily always a bad thing!

Blood Shack (1971)

Blood Shack (AKA: The Chooper) is a dull as dishwater slasher revolving around a cursed ranch, which is haunted by the ghost of a Native American Indian known locally as 'The Chooper' ...apparently.

I say "apparently", as if that fact hadn't been spelled out to me, I would have been extremely confused as to why a ninja with a sword was over-dramatically leaping about and running around impaling people in the American mid-west... actually, I was still a little confused by this.

Not only is Blood Shack silly beyond all fathomable reasoning, but it is predictable and very poorly acted. The short running time is also filled with long camera pans of scenery, an overlong rodeo sequence, and lots of bland over-narration by the protagonist, Carol, which makes a relatively short film seem very overlong and overly padded.

In summary, I would only recommend Blood Shack to die-hard slasher fans who have a high tolerance for the dull and idiotic.
