Children of the Corn II : The Final Sacrifice

Alan Titchmarsh and his son visit the town next door to Gatlin, Nebraska, where they meet Brian Molko who is keen to have a good harvest this year.

Was pretty good, though I prefer the evil kids from the first instalment.

Final Destination 3. 2006

Wendy has a premonition that the roller coaster she is on will crash, in a panic she is escorted away with friends, then it happens, soon death comes calling.

After watching this I went on a rollercoaster and said to the person next to me, kinda feels like final destination 3, will we crash, there was a lot of screaming but was worth it.

I wouldn't say that this was the best entry into the franchise of these movies, the deaths in this are original and full of blood and gore splatter, the effects for this entry are good and look very realistic but the movie does seem to drag on. Tony Todd appears again but only as a voice over. 6-7 out of 10

That's been the best thing about these restored Hammers for me. Seeing them unfettered. Take Vampire Circus. A film I never reaally cared for until I clocked Severin's BD. The colour of it etc. Now ...

It's supposedly an upgrade on all other releases so i went for the dvd release to watch now and intend to get the 4K/BLU collectors edition if it drops in price a bit. £30 is a bit much for a poster and booklet at the moment.

That said the old 2 disc special edition dvd from momentum is far from a poor show.

The Mummy (1932).

This is interesting because I didn't like it the first time: This was back in 2011/12ish time. It was around then (I was a 3rd year student in high school) that I re-watched The Shining, which again I didn't like in 1st year because it was nothing like I expected it to be. Upon re-watching it and knowing what was happening, I fully appreciated it as the masterpiece that it is. So I was hoping for a similar experience here.

I didn't get it.

King Kong, The Bride/Son/Ghost of Frankenstein, Them, Fiend Without A Face etc are great black and white films. But others like the Original Frankenstein and the Original Mummy (not counting the silent versions) I just find kind of... Boring. I hate saying that because both of them are so well regarded but in either case I prefer the films that come after for the most part.

It has a nice opening scene with the guy losing his mind and Boris Karloff is a good actor but I just feel like this Mummy has little to do in the film. That not Karloff's fault: he works well with what he has and his stare is menacing. But compared to the Christopher Lee creature or even the best one: The Arnold Vosloo creature from the two best Mummy films, it doesn't deliver.

Nice flashback about how he became the Mummy with some very (at the time) graphic violence but that's all I can really say. There's very little here that I find memorable. If I want horror then I'll watch the 1999 version. If I want action, with a little horror, then I'll watch The Mummy Returns.

But I am, for the first time, watching ALL the Universal Mummy films. So hopefully Kharis will deliver in the sequels, which I really hope I enjoy.

I feel bad for this but... the final score is 3/10.

The normal blu is fifteen to preorder. I was tempted by that as it has a shit load of extras but i also really like the new artwork poster for it's albeit brief cinema rerelease so that's the reason i will probably opt for the £30 one...if it comes down in price.

I think i disagree with pretty much all of this post.

Even mentioning The Mummy Returns in the same breath as the Karloff version should see you shut in the depths of a pyramid for all eternity.

Still each to their own and all that. We can't all love the same films. And thank you for a nice long review.

Just a warning (to the curious) please don't ever watch any Val Lewton productions.

What did you think of the Sequels with Kharis as the new mummy Dem? I've heard good things about them and having seen none of them I'm looking forward to it.
