If I was making a note of the greatest horror films of the last 25 years, both Rec 1 and 2 would be very high on the list.

A few that i've recently enjoyed but would like to see again to make sure as watched them at my daughters while her son was in bed, so the volume was low and had to use subtitles.

First Omen
Alien Romulus
Megan
Hellraiser (new version)
Prey

To be fair i could do with rewatching quite a few, but these are the films that stood out for me when i first saw them.

I'm not happy with the order, but I don't think I ever will be!
I haven't seen Suspira myself. It's very hard to put films in an order your happy with.

Don't know if I can get to 25, but off the top of my head:

Final Destination
Scream 3
Ginger Snaps
Jason X
Freddy vs Jason
Cherry Falls
Saw
Shaun of the Dead
Severance
Let the Right One In
REC
Scream 4
Absentia
Hush
Doctor Sleep
Ready or Not
Scream 6
It's a Wonderful Knife
The Conjuring
The Conjuring 2
Happy Death Day
Annabelle Comes Home
Oculus
Fear Street 1994
Hereditary

Not in order, though Shaun, LTROI, Doctor Sleep, Scream 4 and Ready or Not would be top 5.

@nos47

That's an interesting list. We have quite a few films in common.

I still haven't seen Crimes of the Future. I'll have to rectify that this year.

Cold Skin i've seen only once but did like it. One of those due for a dvd rewatch. I was close to putting Saint Maude in my top 25 but having only seen it once didn't know how it stood for a rewatch. The Ruins is a great nature gone wild film. Really underrated. It made my list. Blood Glacier is another excellent film. Really enjoyed that the two or three times i've seen it. Another nature gone amok film. Some chilling FX in it.

Obviously The First Omen is pretty good, another i haven't seen. Rather than buying dvd upgrades constantly i should really take the plunge on stuff like Crimes of the Future and The First Omen.

@ iank

Is Hush the one that takes place on the M1 motorway? Enjoyed that one. It has loads of Doctor Who connections.

I'm guessing going off the rest of your list (Absentia and Oculus - both very good) that it's the one from Mike Flanagan.

Like Nordy i've never heard of Fear Street 1984.

@Nordy - I too recommend Doctor Sleep. It's long, particularly in extended directors cut format but still really good. I did think it took a while to get going but it all comes together quite nicely at a very familiar location. Rebecca Ferguson as Rose the Hat is f*cking terrific.

Despite only buying the dvd a couple of years earlier it was one i upgraded to Blu pretty quickly.

Upgrading is always high praise in itself I'll have to watch it soon.
