Really? I thought it was. Even if it was, I'd still probably check it out due to simple curiosity that it seems the gather so much acclaim.

Every Christmas I promise myself I'm gonna sit down and finally watch It's a Wonderful Life, but it never happens... but this year for sure !

He says as another Christmas comes and goes, and he forgets again.

Classics wise there's yawning gaps in my knowledge - Never seen a Godard, Fellini (apart from that Spirits of the Dead thingy), or Ozu, large chunks of Hitchcock, Fassbender and Hawks are missing. Lawrence of Arabia, Casablanca and Gone With the Wind are 3 biggies I've never got around to watching. Most shameful of all - Army of Darkness and Bava's Shock.

Joe, with the exception of Army of Darkness, everything you mentioned is absolutely required viewing - a lot of good stuff to track down there...

Like some others on here, I've never seen a Jess Franco film.I've read about them in various mags but they sound as if they wouldn't appeal to me so I've avoided them. The same with the films of Jean Rollin.

They definitely are aquired tastes to say the least... I'm trying to think of a good starting point for Franco and I'm coming up empty...maybe 99 Women ?

Bloody Moon's probably the least Franco like (and therefore most accessible!) film that I've seen. A nice little slasher, too. Other Franco favourites of mine include: Eugenie, Venus in Furs, and She Killed in Ecstasy. |

I still have not seen Franco's Succubus, and it was probably the first Franco film I ever heard of... Really looking forward to Steve Thrower's Franco book - Steve's a really great Franco commentator, his featurettes on the Mondo Macabro discs are excellent...

Nor have I, I don't think. *EDIT* Yes I have, quite a few in fact. I too was thinking of Jean Rollin |
