Don't know about you but it always makes me smile when I see a director make a small cameo in their (or others) films. Here are a few:

John Landis fills his films with other director cameos.

You'll have to look fast but Werner Herzog appears as one of the sea of faces in Vincent Ward's 1988 film What Dreams May Come...
