To be honest, I didn't think he'd be around much longer once Lina passed away. The two were inseparable and I kind of expected him to follow soon after, it just seems to happen with couples who are very close. Sad news indeed. But I'm glad he was around to see a kind of renaissance and a renewed interest in his work with the age of DVD. Not all of his work was accessible but I always liked the idea that a maverick of his nature could exist within the film industry and still find a market. There's a certain kind of genius in that. RIP Jess.

Looking at IMDB it seems he was one film shy of 200, which is insanely impressive. RIP

Thank you Mr. Franco for all your truly entertaining films, both good and bad, which have entertained me over the years, and will do well into the future. Your legacy lives on. |

Perhaps some may consider this an 'I haven't seen Star Wars' style confession, but I've only seen 2 Jess Franco films (Bloody Moon and Oasis of the Zombies). I've always been tempted to track down more, but I'm not a huge fan of eroticism in film and never really been sure what to try. He has such a vast catalog of work it's pretty daunting.

RIP He had his up and down but no one can argue that he was one of the most prolific directors in the world of eurosleaze and there are many films worth watching and still to be released.
