Pupi Avati

With only a matter of days left until Shameless releases the brilliant giallo, The House With Laughing Windows (now restored under the director's supervision), here's a thread to discuss your favourite Pupi Avati movies!

Whilst most of his work is Italian only or is now obscure, he's responsible for creating some of the films that we love. Besides House With Laughing Windows, Avati also directed the zombie film, Zeder as well as wrote the screenplay for Salo and Lamberto Bava's Macabre.

But what do you think of his films? How many have you seen? Will House be your first?

Share your thoughts in this thread!

For more info on him check out this blog - Pupi Avati: The Man Behind The House With Laughing Windows (or if you prefer, in the forum's blog sections :p)

I'm a fan of Avati's work.

Whilst House is a great film, I've always been very fond of Zeder, and would love for Shameless to tackle this next. It's long overdue a UK release.

I don't think I've ever seen any of his films.

Think House is the only one I've seen (not counting Macabre). Was going to hunt down Zeder, but there didn't seem to be an easily gettable copy available . . .

While they're not firm favourites or anything, Yea I rate Pupi on the strength of House & Zeder. (Zeder was horribly miss-marketed though!)
Didn't realize he had a hand in Macabre, could have been so much better with him directing I reckon.

I think I have a 'naughty' version of Zeder knocking around somewhere, I've never got around to actually watching it. Is it as good as it's reputation?

House is my only experience with him as director, though I have viewed both Macabre and Salo more time's than I care to admit.:pound:

It's a great thriller but don't expect a "standard" zombiefilm, this movie is different.

Guts and gore or no guts and gore?
