Ha !, Now that Shameless has lost its virginity with films with Cannibal in the title, how about getting Lenzi's masterpiece Cannibal Ferox out in a yellow boxed Xtreme Ed and get this title back in UK stores were it belongs .

That's a great idea but won't it just lead to another 'Inferno situation' because it runs afoul of the Cinematograph Films (Animals) Act 1937 and has six seconds of compulsory cuts? I'm not too bothered as I can live without seeing 'a small animal dangling from a rope banging against side of jeep' and Cannibal Ferox is one of those films that I have always meant to buy but have never got round to doing so yet.

Just a bit of fun Nos.
My annual Cannibal Ferox appeal is my tradition from I first joined here. Though ...... if the heavily butchered CH was VIPCO's top selling dvd for them , and has have 3 Mike Lee related releases so far, then an Xtreme Ed of Ferox could sell big numbers .
Theres not that much graphic animal stuff in Ferox (the BBFC passed the pig killing) for it to mater to the film if it were to be edited out.

Oh, Nos, if you do get it go for the US Grindhouse release or the AWE release. The Grindhouse release is best imo but the AWE dvd is good .
Be warned though, theres abit more animal stuff than a coati bumping against a jeep , as the UK version was pre cut and is also void of alot of the human violence as well.

The Grindhouse dvd has more extras but the AWE and Sazuma editions have a much better transfer.

I reckon it would loose about 2-3 mins if submitted.

As I said, it is a title that I've always wanted to buy digit never got round to doing so. The question then is: best transfer or best extras?

For me it was both so I got both Grindhouse and AWE plus the VIPCO UK version.
I suppose its how much you like the film. If your not hot on the film then go for the fullest package.
I'd recomend the Deluxe Grindhouse dvd as the PQ, while not as good as the AWE release is still very good plus you get the better extras.

Casual punters have heard of the notorious cannibal films, I've often been surprised at the amount of people who have asked me if I have them - people I would never have thought would have any interest in films like these. So I reckon lots of people would buy them out of sheer curiosity, even if they are edited versions. I think most of us here know that they'll never pass intact, but I still think they'd be big sellers - obviously not to folk like us, but high street browsers might well pick up copies to satisfy their curiosity. As Shameless have said themselves, New York Ripper did extremely well for them, and that was an edited version.

Of course, if submitted it'll be cut, but possibly less than previously, which could be a major selling point. After all, there's been two releases of ISOYG and a third one coming, so it obviously sells well, even in a truncated form.

It's a different situation to Inferno in that most people believe that a cat eating a mouse does not constitute animal cruelty, whereas the cannibal films heavily feature abuse of animals from humans, which most people agree is wrong. It's a completely different kettle of fish and you can't compare the two.

I realise there is a world of difference between Inferno and Cannibal Holocaust, I was only pointing out that if Shameless were to go ahead with a Cannibal Ferox release, we might end of the same kind of debate about what is permissible and what isn't, again going round and round in circles over the same issues which will be a wast major distraction from the release itself.

As I've never seen it, I would welcome a Shameless release even if it was, as has been pointed out, cut by several minutes. As you say, there is a massive difference between 'animal on animal' violence and humans butchering wildlife for entertainment sake.
