As expected there has been a lot of coverage of the Roxy shows that the Vampires played over the last two days. The second show saw Marilyn Manson join the band for 'Eighteen' as well as the return of Tom Morello, Perry Farell and Kesha. Now the shows are done it can`t hurt to list the setlist for the two nights which was as follows:
There's one more Vampires show scheduled for next week at the 'Rock In Rio' festival. In related news it looks like the 'Hollywood Vampires' album will chart well in both the US and UK. At the time of writing it's at #17 in the US and #23 in the UK!

Continuing with 'Goes To Hell', the third song is entitled 'I'm The Coolest'. It is a semi-spoken song, with a jazz vibe. It's not a bad song, it's just uninvolving According to guitarist Dick Wagner, talking in Vintage Guitar magazine, dated February 1998, the original idea was to have Henry Winkler performing the song, but he turned it down because he didn't want to do anything that would typecast him in the Fonzie image! Alice Cooper -Vocals Dick Wagner - Guitars and Vocals Steve Hunter - Guitars Tony Levin - Bass Jim Gordon - Drums Jim Maelan - Percussion and Soft Shoes Bob Ezrin - Keyboards, Vocals Al Macmillan - Piano 03/11 - I'm The Coolest (Cooper, Wagner, Ezrin) "You know that I'm the coolest that's ever come around You'll notice things get hotter whenever I'm in town I mean, I gotta be the coolest, who else could it be? Everybody knows who's really cool Me Let's face it, I'm the greatest, I'm Mr. Number One My hometown built a statue to their favorite son I mean I gotta be the greatest I'm just a ball of fun I mean I'm definitely the greatest I'm also the coolest You can't leave a package like me sitting on no shelf Let me tell you I'm so cool sonny I'm gonna save a little for myself Yeah baby, come over here a minute Who is the coolest? I mean how do I look? Yeah You can't leave a package like me sitting on no shelf Let me tell you I'm so cool sonny I'm gonna save a little for myself You know the day I was born there were these four dudes up on a hill They said they saw this star hanging out over town And the whole world seemed to stand still It made the Sunday papers I guess it proves for sure I am the coolest I am the greatest I am the baddest I am the smoothest I'm just the best Sand dancer come on Ah yeah Right" The next song, 'Didn't We Meet, is rockier and better, with some nice guitar work 04/11 - Didn't We Meet (Cooper, Wagner, Ezrin) Alice Cooper - Vocals Dick Wagner - Guitars and Vocals Steve Hunter - Guitars Tony Levin - Bass Allan Schwartzberg - Drums Jim Maelan - Percussion Bob Ezrin - Keyboards, Vocals Al Macmillan - Piano "Pardon me, but you see, I've seen that face before I know those eyes, unearthly wise, I feel it more and more To look at you, deja Vu, chills me to the core They say that you are the king of this whole damn thing But that only confused me They say I don't stand a ghost of a chance with my host And it frankly amused me So let's drink a few, `cause looking at you I swear Didn't we meet in the night in my sleep somewhere? Didn't we meet in the night in my sleep somewhere? Gradually I could see, things are getting clear, That ancient face, satanic grace, the sudden rush of fear They say that you are the king of this whole damn thing Now they got me believin' They said I don't stand a ghost of a chance with my host So I better be leaving So let's drink a few, 'cause looking at you I swear Didn't we meet in the night in my sleep somewhere? Here I am, the door's been slammed They're gonna roast my hide Make me bleed, 'till I plead For you to let me die They say that you are the king of this whole damn thing Now they got me believin' They said I don't stand a ghost of a chance with my host God, I wish I were leaving So let's drink a few, 'cause looking at you I swear Didn't we meet in the night in my sleep somewhere? Didn't we meet in the night in my sleep somewhere? Didn't we meet in the night in my sleep somewhere? Didn't we meet in the night in my sleep? Didn't we meet in the night in my sleep somewhere?"

But for heaven's sake Devil: Watch your language, Kid. The 7th song on Goes To Hell is 'Guilty' and it is my favourite song on the album - it's the source for my signature at the bottom of my posts! It's an autobiographical song. The line, "I'm a dirt-talkin', beer drinkin', woman chasin' minister's son" describes Cooper before he went into rehab for alcoholism. It's also one of the few songs which Alice censors - when performed live, he tends to change the line "It seems the law's on my ass every time I stick it out of the door" to "It seems the law's on my trash every time I stick it out of the door" Alice Cooper -Vocals Dick Wagner - Guitars and Vocals Steve Hunter - Guitars Tony Levin - Bass Allan Schwartzberg - Drums Jim Maelan - Percussion Al Macmillan - Piano 07/11 - Guilty (Cooper, Wagner,Ezrin) "Just tried to have fun Raise hell and then some I'm a dirt-talkin', beer drinkin', woman chasin' minister's son Slap on the make-up and blast out the music Wake up the neighbors with a roar like a teenage heavy metal elephant gun If you call that guilty then that's what I am I'm guilty I'm guilty Like driving too fast Love going too far It seems the law's on my ass every time I stick it out of the door If you call that guilty then that's what I am I'm guilty I'm guilty Bad boy on a summer night When the heat makes me mean and I wanna fight With my pedal on the metal And I do what I want to do Bad girls make me feel all right When it's hot and they start screaming in the light Golly gee, it's wrong to be so guilty Guilty Guilty I'm guilty My conscience is on vacation In acute degeneration Willpower has sunk to all-time low If you call that guilty, then I guess I am I'm guilty, I'm guilty I'm guilty, I'm guilty I'm guilty, I'm guilty I'm guilty Well I'm guilty Yeah I'm guilty I don't care I'm guilty I think I've been framed anyway They said I'm guilty I'm guilty They're guilty and everyone is guilty (fade)" 'Wake Me Gently', is another ballad 08/11 - Wake Me Gently (Cooper, Wagner, Ezrin) Alice Cooper - Vocals Dick Wagner - Guitars and Vocals Steve Hunter - Guitars John Tropea - Guitars Tony Levin - Bass Allan Schwartzberg - Drums Jim Maelan - Percussion Bob Ezrin - Keyboards, Vocals Al Macmillan - Piano "I was scared to death, afraid to close my eyes And find that I was gone Like every other one who left before the dawn I vanished in the air Am I still there Wake me gently if you can Wake me gently, just touch my hand Wake me gently, pull my sleeve 'Cause where I'm at is where I want to leave And in my sleep I look so lifeless on this bed Laid out on satin sheets This dream's a novel that I don't dare complete No happy endings read I think the hero's dead Wake me gently if you can Wake me gently, just touch my hand Wake me gently, pull my sleeve 'Cause where I'm at is where I want to.. Leave me to my slumber And I'll never come home Please help me, I'm frightened Of what's going on (What's going on) And if I can't wake up will I be all alone A stranded orphan here Or will I bump into some other wandering soul And will they talk to me Somebody, somebody please rescue me Wake me gently if you can Wake me gently, just touch my hand Wake me gently, pull my sleeve 'Cause where I'm at is where I want to leave I wanna leave I wanna leave I wanna wake up I wanna leave I don't wanna stay I wanna leave I wanna go I wanna go home I wanna go home Just wake me up I wanna go home Wake me up please 'Cause I wanna go home I wanna go home Wake me Wake me (adlib to fadeout)"

Next up is 'Wish You Were Here', which is not a cover of the Pink Floyd song, but rather a piece of funk rock It is heavily based on an earlier Dick Wagner song entitled 'Stage Door Queen' which was recorded by a band Wagner was in during the early 70's named Ursa Major (which also featured Billy Joel on keyboards). The original is a different song, with different lyrics, but all the key parts of 'Wish You Were Here' are there. Alice Cooper -Vocals Dick Wagner - Guitars and Vocals Steve Hunter - Guitars John Tropea - Guitars Tony Levin - Bass Allan Schwartzberg - Drums Jim Maelan - Percussion Al Macmillan - Piano 09/11 - Wish You Were Here (Cooper, Wagner, Ezrin) "I bought you postcards, thought it`d be funny I would have sent a souvenir but they took all my money It's pretty warm down here but it ain't sunny And I'm having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here Having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here I tried to phone ya, I tried to call you Long distance operators that only stall you Besides the damn rates are so high They just appall you And I'm having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here And I'm having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here It started out a nice vacation Left the station right on time Now it`s turned to pure frustration I`m just a prisoner in time Can't get a ticket to get me home, dear They just don't have too many flights from twilight zone, dear So don't forget to feed my cats Spot and Jerome, dear And I'm having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here Having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here Having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here Seen all the sights here, I'm getting lonely I'd show you all the film I took if they would only Let me go home dear, sincerely I'm having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here Having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here Having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here Having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here Having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here Having a hell of a time, my dear Wish you were here" The penultimate song on the album,'I'm Always Chasing Rainbows', is a cover of a song that was written in 1917, before being used on stage in 1918 in the play 'Oh Look'. It was also sung by Judy Garland in the 1941 film 'Ziegfield Girls' 10/11 - I'm Always Chasing Rainbows (McCarthy, Carroll) Alice Cooper - Vocals Dick Wagner - Guitars and Vocals Steve Hunter - Guitars Tony Levin - Bass Jim Gordon - Drums Jim Maelan - Percussion Bob Ezrin - Keyboards, Vocals Al Macmillan - Piano "At the end of the rainbow, there's happiness And to find it how often I've tried But my life is a race, just a wild goose chase and all my dreams have been denied Why have I always been a failure What can the reason be I wonder if the world's to blame I wonder if it could be me I'm always chasing rainbows Watching clouds drifting by My schemes are just like all my dreams Ending in the sky Some fellows look and find the sunshine I always look and find the rain And some fellows make a winning sometime And I never even make a gain I'm always chasing rainbows Waiting to find the little bluebird in vain."

It’s the ultimate heavy metal crossover as the original shock rocker meets the original death metal comic book universe! Bizarre nightmares are plaguing Evil Ernie, Chastity and Purgatori, and though the hate each other’s guts, they may have to join the teen monster team called The Chosen to find the one and only Alice Cooper!

Anyway... the final song on the 'Goes To Hell' album is another ballad, entitled 'Going Home', where Alice/Steven wakes up and brings the whole story to an end Presumably the Devil had realized that Alice was more of a threat on Earth than he is in Hell! Alice Cooper - Vocals Steve Hunter - Guitars Tony Levin - Bass Jim Gordon - Drums Jim Maelan - Percussion Bob Ezrin - Keyboards, Vocals Al Macmillan - Piano 11/11 I'm Going Home (Cooper, Wagner, Ezrin) "I'm going home There I am there in my bedroom I'm safe and snug and snoring and so glad to be there I'm going home None of this ever happened But God, I really did it, still nothing has changed I'm going home I'm going home To my own room to all the mess To all the dirty laundry It looks so good I don't care I'm just so glad to be back Home Sweet home I wonder if anyone missed me Or have I been gone so long they thought that I died How many said I wonder what happened to Alice How many shrugged or laughed, How many cried But I don't give a damn 'Cause I'm going home I'm going home To my own room, to all the mess to all the dirty laundry It looks so good I don't care I'm just so glad to be back home (sweet home) I'm going home Nothing can stop me now I'm going home Nothing can stop me now I'm going home Nothing can stop me now I'm going home Nothing can stop me now I'm going home Nothing can stop me now I'm going home Nothing can stop me now Stop me now..." Sadly for the first time, there was no tour to promote the album. Although it had been booked and rehearsed, at the eleventh hour, Alice was diagnosed as having 'anemia' [read alcoholism], so he was 'under a doctor's care' and therefore the tour was cancelled. 'I realised that when I woke up, and was vomiting blood, that something was wrong. It might have looked good on stage, but...' A report from the Arizona Republic, dated 1st November 1977 stated: "Alice Cooper, lead singer in the rock band of the same name, is in a New York sanitarium recovering from a bout of alcoholism, a spokeswoman for the entertainer said Monday. A newspaper report here had Cooper, who once boasted he drank more than a case of beer a day to keep fit, admitting himself to a hospital in suburban Westchester County, but the hospital would not confirm the report. Barbara Pepe, the Cooper spokeswoman, said that after failing to overcome his drinking problem through private, outpatient treatment, Cooper decided to take advantage of a break in his schedule to undergo a hospital program of treatment. She said she was not told where he was getting treatment" Apparently, the show would have been a theatrical extravaganza to equal that of WTMN, but other that the fact that it was set within a discotheque setting ['because disco is hell'] and incorporated multi levels stages and the split screen effect, not much is known about it

![]() It has a great advert for the anniversary hardback edition of 'The Last Temptation' book written by Neil Gaiman though, I think I'll buy that instead of issue #2 of vs. Chaos.
