![]() 'Feed My Frankenstein', which opens side two of the album, was (of course) used in the film 'Wayne's World'. As well as the song being included, Alice and the band make a cameo appearance in the movie. Apparently, Alice was originally meant to perform 'School's Out' in the movie, but a few days before filming, he approached Mike Myers, saying 'I've got a new song for you'. Also, apparently, the whole Milwaukee scene was ad libbed The song itself is a catchy hard rock song with contain crude sexual metaphors that leave little to the imagination - "Let me drink the wine from your fur tea cup. Velcro candy, sticky sweet." However, the 'fur cup' is actually a reference to a piece of surreal art from the 1930's by Meret Oppenheim [see pic below] On the recorded version of the song, the line 'He's such a psycho' is provided by Cassandra Patterson, who is best known as Elvira Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue provides the bass guitar Alice Cooper - Vocals Joe Satriani - Guitars Stef Burns - Guitars Steve Vai - Guitars Nikki Sixx - Bass Mickey Curry - Drums John Webster - Keyboards Robert Bailey - Keyboards The credited writers of the song include Nick Cole, who has also worked with the KLF, Girls Aloud and The Sugarbabes and also Mark Manning, who is better known as Zodiac Mindwarp. He recorded a version of the song with his band The Love Reaction, and this version can be found here 07/12 - Feed My Frankenstein (Manning, Cooper, Coler, Richardson) "[Spoken] (Yes, yes, I know you`re hungry.. And here comes dinner.) Well, I ain't evil, I'm just good lookin' Start a little fire, and baby start cookin' I'm a hungry man but I don't want pizza I'll blow down your house and then I'm gonna eat ya Bring you to a simmer Right on time Run my greasy fingers Up your greasy spine Feed my Frankenstein Meet my libido (He's a psycho) Feed my Frankenstein Hungry for love And it's feeding time You don't want to talk So baby shut up And let me drink the wine from your fur tea cup Velcro candy, sticky sweet Make my tattoos melt in the heat Well, I ain't no veggie, like my flesh on the bone Alive and lickin' on your ice cream cone Feed my Frankenstein Meet my libido (He's a psycho) Feed my Frankenstein Hungry for love And it's feeding time Baby whoa whoa, oh yeah Feed My Frankenstein Whoa whoa baby chow down Feed My Frankenstein Feed my Frankenstein Meet my libido (He's a psycho) Feed my Frankenstein Hungry for love and it's lunch time Baby whoa whoa, oh yeah Feed My Frankenstein Whoa whoa baby chow down Feed My Frankenstein Feed my Frankenstein Meet my libido (He's a psycho) Feed my Frankenstein Hungry for love And it's feeding time Baby whoa whoa, oh yeah Feed My Frankenstein Whoa whoa baby chow down Feed My Frankenstein" This is followed by 'Hurricane Years', which is another good rock song. It has a nice guitar sound, but there is something wrong with the sound of the drums. It would have made a good single release Alice Cooper - Vocals Stef Burns - Guitars Vinnie Moore - Guitar Hugh McDonald - Bass Mickey Curry - Drums Robert Bailey - Keyboards 08/12 - Hurricane Years (Cooper, Ponti, Pepe, Pfeifer) "I got a ticket to to nowhere I got no respect for the law I got no use 'cause it's all abuse It's the cutting edge of the saw Ain't got no time for the future Ain't got no time for the past I'm running up a down escalator I'm going nowhere fast I'm hanging on like a spider Blowing in the wind This storm's gonna tear a hole Right thru this web I'm in Thunder lightning The wind outside is so damn frightening But it's alright, all right Stand clear You're living in the hurricane years In the hurricane years I've been thru major destruction I've seen thru terrorist' eyes Sometimes I feel no emotion Sometimes I break down and cry I need to walk on a wire I need a layer of skin I need a preacher breathing fire To burn away my sins And I can't help the victims On the side of the road And I can't stop the cyclone That's about to explode Thunder lightning The wind outside is so damn frightening But it's alright, all right Stand clear You're living in the hurricane years In the hurricane years Turn my eyes to heaven Watching all the clouds roll by I see the blood moon rising I know I'm way too young to die Thunder lightning The wind outside is so damn frightening But it's alright, all right Stand clear You're living in the hurricane years In the hurricane years I got a ticket to to nowhere I got no respect for the law I got no use 'cause it's all abuse It's the business end of the saw In The Hurricane Years We`re living in the hurricane years In the hurricane years (fade out)"

![]() 'Little By Little' is another stadium-rock songs, but the melody doesn't achieve anything higher than blandness. The chorus has another audience-participation vibe, but I don't think Alice needs those kind of cheap gimmick Alice Cooper - Vocals Joe Satriani - Guitars Stef Burns - Guitars Hugh McDonald - Bass Mickey Curry - Drums John Webster - Keyboards 09/12 - Little By Little (Cooper, Ponti, Pepe, Pfeifer) "Black leather gloves and your lipstick shines Bright as moonlight glows My wildest rose cuts so fine and deep It hurts but never shows You're bad, you're so hardcore Pull me down here on the killing floor Little by little we cross the line (Whoa.... ) Little by little the ties that bind (Ooooo.... ) Little by little by little by little (Whoa.... ) Little by little tonight Your sugar tongue speaks hot and sweet Lying just for fun Push and shove, Sex is sex But honey, love is love We're not sick insane Just another lovers' game Little by little we cross the line (Whoa.... ) Little by little the ties that bind (Ooooo.... ) Little by little by little by little (Whoa.... ) Little by little tonight I'm all undone My pretty one Don't slap my face Unless you kiss me Little by little we cross the line Little by little the ties that bind Little by little by little by little Little by little tonight I hear you beg and you cry for more You pull me down here on the killing floor Little by little we cross the line (Whoa.... ) Little by little the ties that bind (Ooooo.... ) Little by little by little by little (Whoa.... ) Little by little tonight (Little by little we cross the line)) No one inside (Little by little the ties that bind) We cross that line (Little by little by little by little) We`ll never fight (Little by little tonight) Nowhere to die Little by little by little by little by little by little by little by (repeat to fade)" No two ways about it - 'Die For You' is awful. It's another ballad, but it sounds hideously dated. It's obviously something from the 80's...but the album was from 1991! To my ears, this is another song that sounds like something Bon Jovi would have recorded Co-writers on this song are Nikki Sixx and Mick Mars (who also plays guitar on the song) from Motley Crue and also Jim Vallance, who is best known for his work with Bryan Adams Alice Cooper - Vocals Stef Burns - Guitars Mick Mars - Guitar Hugh McDonald - Bass Mickey Curry - Drums John Webster - Keyboards Steve Croes - Synclavier Robert Bailey - Keyboards 10/12 - Die For You (Cooper, Sixx, Mars, Vallance) "A hundred numbers on my wall Some with names I sometimes call I drop a coin and watch it fall Tryin' to get connected to you A thousand hours all alone My softest pillow turns hard as stone This is the longest night on my own Lyin' here thinking of you Sometimes I shake my head And laugh to myself I'd like to start again with somebody else I'm like a broken toy forgotten on the shelf Baby, I could have been someone I could have been something It would have been nothing to die for you Baby, you're going to need me You'd better believe me It would have been easy to die for you A million memories flood my brain Drown my sorrow, kill my pain Whets my thirst for you again Just another night to get through All my neighbors scream for quiet at my door Shattered glass and torn up photos on the floor Well, I couldn't stand to see your pictures anymore Baby, I could have been someone I could have been something It would have been nothing to die for you Baby, you're going to need me You'd better believe me It would have been easy to die for you These cuts are deep but you plead innocent (innocent) Are you hell or are you heaven-sent (heaven sent) You're much to cold to know how much you meant to me, yeah A billion tear drops fallen from my eyes But it's just a joke now And I'm laughing at your lies You make me hard as rock and now I realize I could have been someone I could have been something It would have been nothing to die for you Aww, you're going to need me You'd better believe me It would have been easy to die for you Yeah, I could have been someone I could have been something It would have been nothing to die for you Oh, you're going to need me You'd better believe me It would have been easy to die for you"

For some reason, the opening few bars of 'Dirty Dreams' reminds me of the intro to the Sex Pistols song 'God Save The Queen'! It's a good rock song, and the returning dream motif suggests 'Welcome To My Nightmare', which will be continued in the next song Alice Cooper - Vocals Vinnie Moore - Guitar Hugh McDonald - Bass Mickey Curry - Drums 11/12 - Dirty Dreams (Cooper, Vallance, Pfeifer) "Well, I wake up burnin' in a soaking sweat My pillows are drippin' and the sheets are wet I jump out of bed and I turn on the light This happens to me every night Sometimes you turn into a snake with long black hair Then you change into an angel, blonde and fair You can turn yourself blue and I don't care You can change your look You can change your race But it's always your touch And always your face Dirty dreams How you wanna do me Dirty dreams Let me get through Dirty dreams Ultra sensor-otic movie starring me and you Well, I close my eyes and you open your lips There's a shock from my head to my fingertips I fall through a hole cuz I can't get a grip The room starts to spin and the world starts to turn My heart catches fire and my bed starts to burn Dirty dreams How you wanna do me Dirty Dreams Anything for you, babe Dirty Dreams A realistic-ated movie starring me and you Make my dreams come true Shake my nights You rattle my sleep Roll my eyes, I'm in too deep Dirty dreams How you wanna do me Dirty dreams Let me get thru Dirty dreams An uncensor-ated movie Dirty dreams Oh.... Dirty dreams, You`re really getting to me Dirty dreams, anything for you Dirty dreams, I`m not an X-rated movie starring me and you Dirty, dirty dreams You oughta be ashamed of yourself..." From the opening sound of a child's jack-in-the-box toy, to the final spoken fade out 'Wind Up Toy' is as creepy as anything Alice had previously recorded. Musically, it's all over the place - weird instruments and phrasing leads to a song full of discord, but it works within the context of the song What really sets this song apart from everything else on the album, however, is the return of Steven, who was last seen on the album 'Goes To Hell' back in 1976. In this song, Steven has grown up (in body, anyway), and he is now locked up in an asylum. Alice Cooper - Vocals Joe Satriani - Guitars Stef Burns - Guitars Hugh McDonald - Bass Mickey Curry - Drums John Webster - Keyboards Robert Bailey - Keyboards 12/12 - Wind Up Toy (Cooper, Ponti, Pepe, Pfeifer) "Voices come from down the hall In my room all painted white I have my bat and rubber ball I like to sleep with them at night But now I'm all smiles the good little shots must be winning 'Cause they crank my dial My motor is stalled but my wheels are still spinning Daddy won't discuss me What a state I must be Mommy couldn't stand living with a wind-up toy All my friends live on the floor Tiny legs and tiny eyes They're free to crawl under the door And, and someday soon so will I But now I'm all smiles These good little shocks must be working I'm so happy now Look, my fingers don't shake and my head isn't jerking Daddy won't discuss me What a pain I must be Mommy couldn't stand having such a wound-up boy Doctors want to check me Poke me and dissect me What do they expect? Feelings from a wound-up toy? I don't think so I'm just a wound-up toy I'm just a wind-up toy I'm lost in a nightmare Shiny white halls drawing rats on the wall Solitary confinement Chained in a cell, got my own private hell Preacher crucifies me Warden wants to fry me I was never young Never just a little boy Daddy won't discuss me What a pain I must be Mama couldn't stand having such a wound-up boy I'm just a wind-up toy I'm a wind-up toy I'm just a wind-up toy I'm just a wind-up toy I'm just a wind-up toy (daddy won't discuss me) wind up toy, wind-up toy (what a pain I must be) I`m just wind-up toy (mama couldn't stand having such a wound-up boy) Wind up toy, wind up toy I'm just a wind-up toy I'm just a wind-up toy I'm just a wind-up, wind-up wind-up wind-up wind-up toy (I`m just so happy now) You know they come here every night I see them, don`t you see them? Hmmm, That`s odd isn`t it I`m so tired, I`m winding down You`ll have to go now it`s bedtime! (Steven.....)" Between June 9th and August 19th, 1991, the first leg of the tour covered America. Going under the title 'Operation Rock And Roll' tour, this was a series of co-headline dates with Judas Priest. Also on the bill were Motorhead, Metal Church and Dangerous Toys. However, these shows ran into severe financial problems and some dates ended up being canceled The touring band consisted of: Alice Cooper - Vocals Stef Burns - guitar Vinnie Moore - guitar (only for the 'Operation Rock And Roll' dates) Pete Friesen - guitar (only for the European dates) Greg Smith - bass Eric Singer - drums Derek Sherinian - keyboards After the US dates, Alice played the 'Nightmare On Your Street' tour between August 27th and September 13th, 1991. This unusual tour was a series of free public mini shows that were performed everywhere from record store roof tops to public parks to causing a traffic jam in the heart of Times Square in NYC. The set varied a few times on the number of songs (anywhere from 4-6) and order they were played but usually included (not in order)
The European leg of the tour, dubbed the 'Hey Stoopid Tour' started in the UK, and dates were between September 28th and October 10th. Shows were played in Dublin, Wembley, St. Austell, Bournemouth, Sheffield, Whitley Bay, Edinburgh and Birmingham. Depending on which show you attended, support came from either The Almighty or Wolfsbane The basic setlist for both the Operation Rock And Roll tour and the European dates was:

There were two other songs recorded during the sessions for the album. 'It Rained All Night' was only included on the Japanese version of 'Hey Stoopid' For reasons I'm not sure about, although the song featured is Alice, the video features the Japanese band 'X' Alice also recorded a version of the Hendrix song 'Fire', which was used as the B-side to 'Love's A Loaded Gun' single release

The album 'The Last Temptation' was released in 1994, and after the heavy metal excesses of the previous releases, it saw a return to the pop-metal that Alice had been performing in the 1970s. To my mind, it's the best thing Alice has recorded since 'From The Inside'. It's a concept album, dealing with the topics of temptation and redemption. It also saw the (full) return of Steven. The working title for the album was 'Along Came A Spider', which would finally be used for an album released in 2008. The album was almost finished before the title was changed Initial copies of the album came with a free comic book, 'The Last Temptation Of Alice Cooper, Part 1', written by Neil Gaiman. The same book was later made available separately through comic shops with a different cover. Issues two and three, completing the story, appeared over a protracted period afterwards. Still later, all three books were compiled as 'The Complete Alice Cooper' trade paperback. This version included some additional text and sketches. Strangely, the character of The Showman is depicted as Alice Cooper rather than the character of Steven There was a television commercial released for the album, and it can be seen here Opening the album, and setting the scene, is 'Sideshow'. It's a straightforward pop song, with none of the heavy metal overtones from recent songs. It has a catchy melody, and solid instrumentation with nice acoustic guitars, bouncy electric guitars and punchy drums. It's like the real Alice Cooper had found his feet and returned. Alice Cooper - Vocals Stef Burns - Guitar, Vocals Greg Smith - Bass, Vocals Derek Sherinian - Keyboards, Vocals David Uosikkinen - Drums For the first time, a number of different producers was used on the recording Producer - Andy Wallace 01/10 - Sideshow (Alice Cooper, Bessie Smith, Brian Smith, Michael Brooks, Jon Norwood, Dan Wexler, Bud Saylor) "I ain't got no fun today It's just like yesterday, oh yeah Only different shades of grey I'm bored right out of my skull I'd have to get high just to be dull I'm institutional My TV screen spins around and around and around and around (I need a sideshow) I need a sideshow (Some kinda Creepshow) Some kinda creepshow, (of yeah) oh yeah They ran the circus out of town But the ring master said "Boy, you can stick around" I pay to see the freaks Some finger lickin' chicken-eating geek Hey, that sounds cool to me I just want to step inside I want a scary ride, oh yeah See Jeckyll turn to Hyde I feel my head spinnin' round and around and around and around, around around around (I need a sideshow) I need a sideshow (oh yeah) (Some kinda creepshow) Some kinda creepshow (oh yeah) yeah (a freakshow) I just want someplace to go, (oh yeah) I tried to be a circus clown But even my monkey wouldn't hang around And the hunchback midget and his twisted friends Offer me a world of thrills that never end I need a sideshow Some kind of freaky show, oh yeah (Sideshow) Down where the neon glows (Sideshow) Just like a psychedelic video Or a 24 hour party, go go go Not a 90210, no I need my sideshow, sideshow My private, my private sideshow [Spoken] (hmm, step right up, come on in, we have something for everyone taste Say, you look like a bright young boy. What`s the matter? Afraid?)." The second song, Nothing's Free', is a good hard rock song. It features Alice doing his spoken/singing thing, using a creepy voice. Producer - Don Flemmin 02/10 - Nothing's Free (Alice Cooper, Dan Wexler, Bud Saylor, Bob Pfeifer) "You, me, understand, shake my hand Last chance, little man ain't it grand It's a bargain, it's a steal 30 pieces silver and a deal's a deal Sign upon the dotted line, I'll be yours and you'll be mine Nothing's free Eventually Nothing's free from the rules and laws of morality Free to take your fill Free from your own free will Nothing's free My boy, it's getting late, I'll raise the stakes So close, control your fate, why hesitate Seal the deal, close the sale Take my hammer, drive the nail Sign upon the bloody line, a drop of yours, a drop of mine Nothing's free Eternally Nothing's free from your conscience or Free from the consequence Free to sin and death Free till your final breath Nothing's free Free from the claws and flaws of your family Free from obedient life You're cut like a double-edged knife Nothing's free, nothing's free Oh, you pay me Free to ignore the bore of authority Free to spit in the face Be the winningest rat in the race till Judgement Day Then nothing's free Bow to me if you wanna be free Free from life, come die with me And when we're dead it's for eternity Come on little one and dance in the fire The heat's getting close and the flame's getting higher When the music's over there's a hush in the choir Nothing's free When the trumpets sound and his light is all around And the saints all raise from the graves in the ground We'll be going way downtown Way downtown When we're free, so free Trust me..... It`s dark, and it`s cold, and alone, but you're free Isn`t that what you wanted?"

I don't have The Last Temptation. It's the only one of his since Constrictor i don't own. I used to have it but somehow don't now. I get the feeling i sold it because of the comic to someone a long time ago. I'll have to get it again. |

![]() 'Lost In America' is the third song on the album. It's a good hard rock song, with a catchy guitar riff and some amusing lyrics. The song ends with a particularly twisted piece of Americana! Released as a single, Alice appeared on an episode of 'Top Of The Pops', which was recorded on May 18th, 1994. He was co-hosting the show and also singing the song. The video that was made for the song received almost no airplay at all. It's possible that this was due to the flashing images, and the worry about 'photosensitive epilepsy' Producer - Don Flemmin 03/10 - Lost In America (Alice Cooper, Dan Wexler, Bud Saylor) "I can't get a girl 'cause I ain't got a car I can't get a car 'cause I ain't got a job Oh, I can't get a job 'cause I ain't got a car So I'm looking for a girl with a job and a car Don't you know where you are Lost in America Lost in America Lost in America lost I got a mom but I ain't got a dad My dad's got a wife but she ain't my mom Mom's looking for a man to be my dad But I want my mom and to be my real mom and dad Is that so bad Oh, I think I've been had Lost in America Lost in America Lost in America lost Lost in America Lost in America Lost in America lost I live at the 7-11 I'm tryin' to play this guitar I'm learning "Stairway to Heaven" 'Cause Heaven's where you are I can't go to school 'cause I ain't got a gun I ain't got a gun 'cause I ain't got a job I ain't got a job 'cause I can't go to school So I'm looking for a girl with a gun and a job and a house... with cable Don't you know where you are Lost in America Lost in America Lost in America lost Lost in America Lost in America Lost in America lost Lost in America Lost in America Lost in America lost Lost in America Lost in America Lost Lost lost lost..... Yeah yeah yeah yeah.... Oh yeah I`m lost...." 'Bad Place Alone' is a schizophrenic song - almost two different tunes in one. It alternates between a dumb heavy metal riff on the verses and a Broadway show tune on the chorus, similar to the kind of things Alice did with the ACG Producer - Don Flemmin 04/10 - Bad Place Alone (Alice Cooper, Dan Wexler, Bud Saylor) "Yeah.... I'm a creature of the street and I rip off all the money I was kicked in the teeth, shoved face first through a window I got a gangland name and a teardrop tattooed eye They call me Little Caesar in the brotherhood of crime I know about the pain Dyin' in an alley with an air-conditioned brain I know, it's for real Flatlined in an ambulance without a pulse to feel Hey blood brother, you're one of our own You're as sharp as a razor and as hard as a stone Hey blood brother, you're bad to the bone You're a natural killer in a bad place alone They call me Smoky Joe and I'm as thin as a coroner's needle I got a pocket full of rocks, man, I shake like a cold chihuahua I got a runny nose and a road map on my arm I blew my gig pokin' 'round the gallery with someone else's rig I know, I understand I watch my body hauled off by the local garbage man Hey blood brother, you're one of our own You're sharp as a razor and as hard as a stone Hey blood brother, you're bad to the bone You're a natural killer in a bad place alone Aw... We're cool, we're cold We're stiff, we're tagged We're slabbed, we're croaked We're whacked, we're cracked We're smoked and cured and slammed and slurred and sliced and diced and put on ice Cooked and stewed and badly brewed and splattered once or twice Hey blood brother (hey blood brother) hey blood brother, hey hey Hey blood brother (hey blood brother) hey blood brother, hey hey Hey....... Look at us, nice and thin, not a lot of fat on us, but not a lot of skin.. We`re alone, so are you Way beyond the meanest, gonna close you baby blue You`re just a shadow of yourself, bag of bones, nobody there to answer the phone You`re alone, bro You`re all alone You`re alone You`re alone You`re so alone"
