December 1st, 1981 - 42 years ago today, Venom released their debut album 'Welcome To Hell', and people who were used to the 'safe' sound of bands like Motorhead were introduced to the genesis of 'extreme metal' In Sounds magazine, Geoff Barton gave the record a 5* review and described it as having "the hi-fi dynamics of a 50-year-old pizza", and concluded that it "brought a new meaning to the word 'cataclysmic' "!

Can't go wrong with Belphegor. I have the Conjuring the Dead album. It features this song with vocals by Glenn Benton and Atilla Csihar. Belphegor - Legions of Destruction Conjuring the Dead (2014) |

Battlelore - Bow and Helm Doombound (2011) I love how this starts fairly gently then totally let's rip on the minute mark then goes quiet with angelic female vocals before kicking off once more. Doombound was tonight's cooking music. |

Had this on today, it's actually insane how good it is, in 1993 it literally blew my mind, light years better than As The Flower Withers which at the time was my favourite album. I'm sad now though because my CD doesn't have the slip cover I kind of want to hunt down the 2001 re-issue now lol.
