It's a good DVD, BUT...as far as I'm concerned, it really only came alive during the last 20 minutes or so, when they played some old stuff - "YYZ", "The Spirit of Radio", "Tom Sawyer" and the "2112" medley

Other than that, there was too much 'new' material, and not enough of the older classics
Rush are a progressive band. Continuously making new and challenging music. They aren't a greatest hits act.

I realise that, Mr. Dike, but all the other Rush DVD's that I have got contain a wide spread of music, from the early Led Zeppelin-esque era, to the pretentious concept album era, to the poodle hair and synths from the 80's era to the 'new album' era

I was disappointed with Clockwork Angles

They did a greatest hits tour a while back if i recall.

I think with bands like Rush and Maiden, they name their tour after their most recent album then play a lot off it and more recent records, leaving classics until the end of the set and encore.

That's why i don't bother with Maiden live anymore.

Rewatched We Jam Econo, a rather spiffy wee documentary about The Minutemen. You could play an entire album by them in the space of one Rush song.....

Metallica - S&M

On paper, Metallica working with The San Francisco Symphony (conducted by Michael Kamen) shouldn't work

In practice, Metallica working with the San Francisco Symphony doesn't work

It is a boring concert, and I found myself jumping from song to song

Musically, they are just too different - the bombastic thrash of one band is completely at odds with the musical subtlety of the other

Kudos to Metallica for trying something different, but to my mind, the experiment was a failure

Some bands can get away with this - the orchestral pairings with KISS and Rush spring to mind, but their music is much more suited to something like this

Take That - Progress Live

Thoroughly enjoyable

Certainly NOT my kind of music, but it's a very theatrical presentation

This was the 'reunion' tour that the group did when Robbie rejoined in 2011

The first 20 minutes or so were the 4 piece group, then there is about 30 minutes of Robbie solo, and the rest of the show is the entire 5 piece group

Recommended, but watch it on 'mute'!
