Can you tell I like them slightly? |
Just slightly mate ;) They're a great band. I'm not into some of Patton's more Avant-Garde stuff but you can't beat his FNM stuff. Their 'Angel Dust' album is another favourite of mine. |
Found me going back to me old MADCHESTER bangin' tunes....:D BEZ'S MADCHESTER ANTHEMS-Anyone got it? Sitting here listening to THE SMITHS  The boy with the thorn up his arse......anyone yoddle like that twat Morrisey?:D |
I'm a big fan of the Smiths  Got a few of their albums/ greatest hits CD's. In all fairness they made some great songs (even if Morrissey is a twat :D) |
Marr was a genius on guitar,a big influence on THE STONE ROSES I'd say....funny,I used to slag the Morrisey mob at school as well....lol |
Saw Nine Below Zero at the Belfast Blues Fest. PURE CLASS.! Still as good as when I first saw them when I was 15. |

"The Real Thing" is a good album, but not the best FNM by a shot. "Angel Dust" is probably my favourite Patton era FNM, but I really like the Chuck Mosley efforts. As for what I've actually been listening to of late, can't get enough of the new Gutter Twins e.p "Adorata", Mark Lanegan has the most amazing vocals, love pretty much all of his work, whether it's with The Screaming Trees or his solo/collaborations, guy's a ****ing legend. |
I've been listening to Old Dirty Bastard - Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version. Amazing stuff, up there with Tical and Liquid Swords - deserves more respect! |

I've been listening to a lot of Phil Anselmo's (now full time project) Down recently. Easily one of the best metal bands around today. |
I've yet to hear Down's new album but I really like their other two. Have you heard Phil's (other) old band Superjoint Ritual Cloud? If so what do you think to them? |
Over The Under isn't quite as good as their other 2 albums imo but it's still bloody good. Be sure to go for the Digipak when you do buy it; it contains an additional song not shown on the tracklisting. I understand they're going to begin work on a 4th album shortly. SJR were a very good band, it's a shame they split. It seems everything Anselmo touches turns to gold though that's debatable with Necrophagia! |
Will do, cheers mate. Been meaning to pick up a copy for a while now. Yeah, I loved Superjoint. Thought their 'Lethal Dose of American Hatred' album was superb. 'Use Once...' had it's moments aswell. What was Phil's involvement with Necrophagia btw? Wasn't the vocalist was he? If so, I didn't know about that  :D |
He was their guitarist for a while under the pseudonym of Anton Crowley. Not my favourite Anselmo project I must say but they're alright, they kind of lose their novelty after 3 or 4 tracks. |
By the way just to add my bit regarding Faith No More. They were always such a frustrating band, they did some really great stuff and some real crap. Listening to one of their albums was like opening a box of chocolates. That said, The Real Thing is a classic album and Angel Dust is rather jolly too. To be honest I've always viewed Mike Patton's output to be erratic (to say the least). What's the opinion on Mushroomhead? They're heavily influenced by FNM but have been harshly labelled as a rip off of Slipknot (wtf?) just because they wear masks. They're a band I like a lot. |
viva la vida Coldplays new album love it :) and The Dark Knight score just fabulous :) |

As for FNM, I know what you mean. There were a couple of albums that really weren't my cup of tea personally with the exception of the odd song or two. I love the band but 'King for a day, fool for a lifetime' and 'Album of the year' were very hit or miss. |
Cant get enough y&t at the moment. Forgotten how bloody good this san francisco band were. Some great hard rockers, black tiger, open fire, hurricane, midnight in tokyo, rescue me and mean streak(lyricaly, very apt, considering my situation at the mo.) And the band that put the power in ballad. I believe in you, blows me away every time. Sheer class. And as for dave meniketti's vocals....man,this guy can sing with a lot of power, and their touring in the next month or so..hmm..glasgow cathouse beckons. |
Currently listening to Fear Factory's 'Obselete' album. Crazy to think this came out nearly eight years ago, it sounds fresher and more original than most stuff coming out now. One of the greatest metal albums of all time without doubt IMO, not to mention one of the greatest concept albums. It's got everything, crushing tech-heavy brutality (Shock, Edgecrusher), haunting melody (Descent, Smasher/Devourer) and very thought provoking, moving lyrics (Securiton-Police State 2000, Freedom or Fire, Resurrection). I don't use the term lightly but this really is a masterpiece. One of the best bands I've ever seen live aswell, second only to the mighty Machine Head. |
Am I the only one hear to have heard of Nine Below Zero.? These guy's are true legends, and while i've seen many bands live, NBZ are the only band i'd bother to still go see live any time they play N. Ire. They've got it all, a sexy, cool front man, the best harp blower in Europe, plus a real tight bass and drum section. Put these 4 together on stage and its the most intense, pleasurable experience that man can ever know , with or without his clothes on.! |
The name rings a bell Vips and i've heard you mention them but I dont think i've ever heard their music, are they a jazz band? From how you described them I don't think they'd be my personal cup of tea, sorry mate. More of a metal head myself, nothing better than getting in a big heaving dirty sweaty pit and getting the crap kicked out of you for 90 minutes ;) :D |
I've heard a couple of songs by Nine Below Zero and they're not my bag. They're a bit too much of a knee-slapping band to be honest, lol. VERY knee-slapping :p At present I'm listening to bits of Metallica's new album "Death Magnetic". I've not liked their output since ...And Justice For All but this is definitely a step in the right direction from what I've heard. The production is a bit iffy though, the drum banging is almost as annoying as on St. Anger! |
NBZ are not Jazz or knee slapping band. That was a rare 'unpluged' set. Electric their god's. Unplugged their gods as well. They are a high engery Blues / RnB band. U Tube have loads of vids. Best band i've ever seen . I love them . |
Just made another mix for a site that hosts a radio show (Almar?), lot of different shit on it, if anyone wants a link to the file to have a listen give me a shout. |
Clear out the earwax by listening to the fantastic Cavalera Conspiracy |
Funnily enough Cavalera appears on the latest Ill Bill record. I've met Max and Igor, real nice fellas. Igor was quite introverted, but that's probably because he didn't speak as much English as Max. Me and a few mates got drunk with Sepultura in Belfast in the early '90's. Hooked up with them the day before their gig, brought them to a local rock bar and got stinkin'. They asked us to meet them in the hotel the next day (day of the concert), to show them around Belfast (Max wanted a certain tattoo). Showed up that morning and the hotel staff wouldn't let us in. Max (and then girlfriend) came down, told the hotel staff we we're cool, and we hooked up. Tattoo parlour was too busy, so we all went for a wander around Belfast. Somewhere in Sepultura's home video's there's footage of Max and me talking to a couple of nun's at the back of CastleCourt in Belfast. That was a great day, just hanging out with a band I utterly adored at the time. They were totally down to earth, no ego whatsoever, (although I can say that about all the bands I've met). I've got pictures of of my younger self with Max, Igor, Andreas (when his arm was ****ed up) and Paulo. The gig was great by the way, even if the kid's weren't down with Fudgetunnel. |
Is this the same Trench I met in town.? Early 90's, wow. I thought you were around 24 mate. |

What other music/bands do you like then? You like any metal? |
I saw The Clash and the Ramones when I was about 12. Excellent gigs. I worked in a 'hard house' club so I like that. Seen loads of bands Cloudy but metal never appealed to me. I just couldn't get it mate. Now I just listen to NBZ as I love that style of music plus i've many happy memories from their gigs.I've been to that many as each member of the band walks on they point and smile or wink. I go home with a sore thoat from singing and a sore thigh from all that slapping . lol Milo Z are a pretty good funky soul style band from NY. Its akward for me to get to gigs as it can be quite painful so I would only go see NBZ, besides, going to see some one else would be like cheating on NBZ. |

Great story Trench. I once had a couple of beers with a couple of members of Cannibal Corpse after a gig a couple of years back but never managed to hang out with a band I like properly, just chit chat after shows and stuff. Anyone else got any good gig stories? :D |
You won't be disappointed H22 They rock big time And agreed, great story Trench!! |
Yes Vips, same trench you met in town, but you can add 10 years to your 24! Aye, it was cool alright. I'm no fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but back in the day they tried to sneak out of their little van and hide from the fans but I stopped them! Nice enough they were. Chad Smith was rather chatty. Saw Henry Rollins at the back of the venue but didn't bother him. Also met "Massacre", an old school death metal band, they were sound as ****. I was totally fearless back then. I had a chance a few years ago to chat with my favourite vocalist of all time, Mark Lanegan, and all I could do was stand there with a cig in my mouth kind of staring at him whilst he stared at me. He's a very shy fella though, so I've convinced myself that I was doing him a favour by not approaching him! Still though, there wasn't anyone else about, it was a chance encounter, still regret not saying hello at least! |
**** me Trench, you dont look a day over 24 mate. Please pardon my language, but im in utter shock. You should see this guy, he's like a male model in his mid twentys top's. True bill, i've met him. Again, forgive the language, but I really am shocked. |
I once met John Tardy from Obituary and got him to sign my gig ticket, he was a pretty cool guy. Also, GWAR were sorted, they don't half put on an awesome show. Unfortunatley when they came out to the bar afterwards though they had taken their costumes off which was a bit disappointing as i'd have liked to get some photos with them like that, nice guys though. I know what you mean Trench about not being able to approach people sometimes, I saw Poison the Well once at a tiny bar in Leeds, they're one of my favourite bands of all time and I got there early to find Jeff, the vocalist sitting at the bar and I just didn't know what to say. I really regret not approaching him but I got cold feet :( |
I met all of nine below zero at The Empire in 96. I was invited backstage to their dressing room and stayed for about 20 minutes. They were really down to earth guys and the singer Dennis Greeves made fun at my feeble attempt to grow a stripe down my chin like his. ( see avatar ) Every time I spoke to him he kept laughing at it. With working in a dance club i've met and partyed with all the top DJ's of the house music scene, Jeremy Healy ( birthday present ) Brandon Block, Alex P, Lisa Pin up to name a few. The parties were crazy . |

Currently listening to the new Squarepusher album, ****ing immense it is, but then almost all of his releases are! What a bass player / programmer / musical genius that boy is, love him. |
The new Metallica album is pure gold A proper return to form I should know, I bought Reloaded!!! :ack: |
Quite looking forward to Slipknot's new album. They're last effort was a bit mediocre, only the odd good song here and there, from what i've heard of their new one so far it's a big improvement. |
Seems i may be the only one on here who has a love for the aor genre, but if there is any fellow fans out there,i recommend you check out the new album from khymera, the greatest wonder. Absolutely superb, with not a duff track on it. Lush keyboards, soaring choruses, hook filled guitars and superb singing. Brilliant stuff! Now...back to normality.;) |
Whats aor.? Pardon my ignorance. |
