They're a great band. I'm not into some of Patton's more Avant-Garde stuff but you can't beat his FNM stuff. Their 'Angel Dust' album is another favourite of mine. | I'm probably more a fan of Pattons non-FNM stuff, the first and third Mr. Bungle albums are incredible, and a fair proportion of his Fantomas/Tomahawk stuff is amazing as well. The Peeping Tom album is great, General Patton vs The X-ecutioners is a fantastic experimental hip-hop album. Has anyone heard any of his "Mondo Cane" stuff? Basically Pattons interpretation of old Italian standards, I've only heard a bit of it but it's nice enough.
"The Real Thing" is a good album, but not the best FNM by a shot. "Angel Dust" is probably my favourite Patton era FNM, but I really like the Chuck Mosley efforts.
As for what I've actually been listening to of late, can't get enough of the new Gutter Twins e.p "Adorata", Mark Lanegan has the most amazing vocals, love pretty much all of his work, whether it's with The Screaming Trees or his solo/collaborations, guy's a ****ing legend. |
