The name rings a bell Vips and i've heard you mention them but I dont think i've ever heard their music, are they a jazz band? From how you described them I don't think they'd be my personal cup of tea, sorry mate. More of a metal head myself, nothing better than getting in a big heaving dirty sweaty pit and getting the crap kicked out of you for 90 minutes ;) :D

I've heard a couple of songs by Nine Below Zero and they're not my bag. They're a bit too much of a knee-slapping band to be honest, lol.

VERY knee-slapping :p

At present I'm listening to bits of Metallica's new album "Death Magnetic". I've not liked their output since ...And Justice For All but this is definitely a step in the right direction from what I've heard. The production is a bit iffy though, the drum banging is almost as annoying as on St. Anger!

NBZ are not Jazz or knee slapping band. That was a rare 'unpluged' set.
Electric their god's. Unplugged their gods as well.
They are a high engery Blues / RnB band.

U Tube have loads of vids.
Best band i've ever seen . I love them .

Clear out the earwax by listening to the fantastic Cavalera Conspiracy

Funnily enough Cavalera appears on the latest Ill Bill record.

I've met Max and Igor, real nice fellas. Igor was quite introverted, but that's probably because he didn't speak as much English as Max. Me and a few mates got drunk with Sepultura in Belfast in the early '90's. Hooked up with them the day before their gig, brought them to a local rock bar and got stinkin'. They asked us to meet them in the hotel the next day (day of the concert), to show them around Belfast (Max wanted a certain tattoo). Showed up that morning and the hotel staff wouldn't let us in. Max (and then girlfriend) came down, told the hotel staff we we're cool, and we hooked up. Tattoo parlour was too busy, so we all went for a wander around Belfast. Somewhere in Sepultura's home video's there's footage of Max and me talking to a couple of nun's at the back of CastleCourt in Belfast.

That was a great day, just hanging out with a band I utterly adored at the time. They were totally down to earth, no ego whatsoever, (although I can say that about all the bands I've met). I've got pictures of of my younger self with Max, Igor, Andreas (when his arm was ****ed up) and Paulo. The gig was great by the way, even if the kid's weren't down with Fudgetunnel.

To my ears they sound a bit knee-slapping. Still, different folks, different strokes :).

What other music/bands do you like then? You like any metal?

vipco 14th September 2008 01:51 PM

I saw The Clash and the Ramones when I was about 12. Excellent gigs.

I worked in a 'hard house' club so I like that.

Seen loads of bands Cloudy but metal never appealed to me. I just couldn't get it mate.

Now I just listen to NBZ as I love that style of music plus i've many happy memories from their gigs.I've been to that many as each member of the band walks on they point and smile or wink.
I go home with a sore thoat from singing and a sore thigh from all that slapping . lol

Milo Z are a pretty good funky soul style band from NY.

Its akward for me to get to gigs as it can be quite painful so I would only go see NBZ, besides, going to see some one else would be like cheating on NBZ.

Still haven't heard them yet. Soulfly have just brought out a new album aswell which I need to get round to. What with mainly buying films these days I don't get to buy as many CD's as i'd like. I usually keep up with the smaller/ more underground type bands so most of the CD's I buy now are pretty cheap as they're independantly released and sold by the bands at gigs and stuff.

Great story Trench. I once had a couple of beers with a couple of members of Cannibal Corpse after a gig a couple of years back but never managed to hang out with a band I like properly, just chit chat after shows and stuff. Anyone else got any good gig stories? :D
