Oh shit, it's just gone disco!
Also, why is he staring at a ghost's face in the first pic? Isn't he?
Where do any of us go, from here?

I used to drink in the same pub as Mark E. Smith many a year ago, appropriately enough, when I worked in an inpatient drug and alcohol detox unit.

I've had peripheral run-ins with him over the years. The last was down in London - I was smoking a cig outside the front door to my art college, which opened onto Whitechapel. He was stalking past, seething with an almost unearthly malice. I made brief eye contact, but the wave of malevolance I got in return made me look the other way. He looked like he wanted to kill me! Maybe he'd crossed paths with Karl Burns that day. I'd rather keep my idols at a distance anyway, so I can be slightly hypocritical and take the piss without them lamping me.

Whitechapel you say? Was it really you Smith was looking at or some perfumed tart via a time portal?

Possibly both - I did have fees to pay!

Christ, he's f*cked these days isn't he? At least onstage. Probably off, too - one of my friends has an anecdote about how he fell asleep and basically pissed himself in front of her, but I'd rather preserve MES' few remaining shreds of dignity than relate in full...
