MACHINE HEAD: Phil Demmel and Dave McClain Leaving The Band Following One Last Tour

Their last album was a bit poor, but it’s still shit that two of the best members they’ve had have quit

I've never rated Sabaton. I think it's the singer. I just don't like his voice.

Supposedly a terrific live band so should be a big hit at Bloodstock.

It's a strange one this Machine Head split. Rob seems to blame himself for it.

Wonder if Rob might want to team up with members of another classic thrash band who are calling it quits very soon, mainly down to their singer not wishing to tour anymore.

I’m thinking it’s his political views and the fact that he’s a bit like Dave Mustaine when it comes to his vision for the band i.e he’s the boss, and what he says goes, which is why he’s been the only original member for a number of years now.

You're probably right. The last one i bought was The Blackening which seemed an almost proggy direction and a world away from the first album which i fell in love with straight away. They supported Slayer for that first album and almost blew them away at the Manchester Apollo gig. Almost.

I realise bands have to evolve but at times it seems that Machine Head have just followed trends in metal rather than being at the forefront of changes themselves.

Reason I got into them was because they were supporting Slayer so I checked out the first album, lost interest when they went all Nu Metal and started rapping on songs, then got back into them again with the Blackening. Had the chance to go see them back in May but didn’t bother, kinda regret that decision now

Agree completely, although rather surprised The End by The Doors wasn't there, nor any Marduk
