Bradford Rio’s, a name that gives me so much nostalgia. That club was an extreme metal hotspot in the 90s.

What the fashionable Metalhead looked like in 1982

I know - I looked like this!

**Except I never had sideburns, my hair was longer and my invisible-guitar playing technique was much better!

I went a few times, a lot of international bands would do either 1 or 2 dates in the UK and Rio's was always one of them! I never got to Jilly's though funny enough.

The road to Bradford for me was a nightmare and for gigs i'd never have got there in time after work. It's a single lane road from Burnley via small towns like Todmorden and Hebden Bridge and at 5-7pm would be a nightmarish journey. Manchester via motorway although almost ten miles more was a lot more accessible.

You metalheads with taste might get a kick out of this; MTVs Headbanger Ball doing their annual 'Monsters of Rock' show, this one from 1992.

Funny watching Ricky Warwick being interviewed by his wife and pretending like they don't know each other

Loads of other good videos on the YouTube channel!

I know of one metalhead with no taste who was at that Monsters of Rock.

Back then putting Maiden, Skid Row, Slayer and W.A.S.P. on the same bill was pretty much orgasmic.

I just watched the entire thing, great fun, Thunder was edited out for some reason, there is a disclaimer in the video description stating that copyright holders could remove their work so I'm wondering if they asked for it to be removed...

I wish I went to '92 Donnington, as it happened I was 15 and didn't have enough money, my friend and I got some beers and listened to it all day on Radio 1 and ran around like crazy air guitaring to Iron Maiden's full set

Thanks to you i'm listening to W.A.S.P.'s set that day. It's a bonus cd with The Crimson Idol.

Wild Child is just sending the crowd into raptures.

One of the nicest men in rock, Dave Grohl, takes the spicy chicken wings challenge
