I love the mix or eroticism and surrealism on the sleeve...

Trevor Brown's work for Venetian Snares Horse And Goat EP culminated in this rather provocative piece: I love JG Thirlwell's Foetus output and his LP and EP covers, whose earlier releases have a curious constructivist aesthetic: Boom Bip and Super Furry's Gruff Rhys's 80s retro chic music project Neon Neon only produced one album Stainless Style, but I think the cover really encapsulates the album and I love the fact that you can almost make out the guy in the seat, but not quite - very giallo I think.

Those are great sleeves Phil. Yes that last one with the heels made me think for Tenebrae. The next series of sleeves are from the Ghost Box label, purveyors of fabulous retro-electronica. The sleeves below are an affectionate nod toward the Penguin paperbacks of the 70's...

I've always loved the sleeve for this album by sludgey doom metal band Winter. I'd love to know where this pic comes from - it's looks like it could be taken from some bombed out city like Hiroshima or Dresden...

Dead Kennedys - Frankenchrist
Frankenchrist came with free Giger poster In April 1986, police officers raided his house in response to complaints by the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC).[20] In June 1986, L.A. deputy city attorney Michael Guarino, working under City Attorney James Hahn, brought Biafra to trial in Los Angeles for distributing "harmful material to minors" in the Dead Kennedys album Frankenchrist. In actuality, the dispute was about neither the music nor the lyrics from the album, but rather the print of the H. R. Giger poster Landscape XX (Penis Landscape) included with the album |
