Smile Post Your Favourite Record Sleeves!

This thread is for all those who love old-fashioned records and their - very often - great sleeves.

Let's concentrate on the good old days - i.e. from the 50s till the end of the 70s.

As Monty Python say: take it away, Genghis!

Greetings!

PS: You could also post pictures of your own records - e.g. if you have rare signed copies, or records that have never been released on Compact Disc!

One of the first records i bought was Black Sabbath Greatest Hits.

The painting is called The Triumph of Death by Pieter Bruegel in 1562.

The artwork both fascinated and horrified me as an early teen. The painting depicts skeletons raping amd murdering a small medieval village.

The top image blows up so you can see the gruesome goings on.

I love the sleeve Prince, but I'm not a huge fan of the record.

Speaking of Prince, what an album cover! This how you set out a statement of intent! If anyone was shocked by what they got on this album, then they should've paid a bit of attention to the photo!

Impressive painting!

Speaking of Black Sabbath - this Hipgnosis artwork has a morbid touch...I can't tell you why, but it always makes me feel uneasy...

There is another version with Eddie as the Wicker Man, it's miles better than that.

Best one has to be Somewhere In Time, so many hidden references thrown in there, but I do love this one, and the album itself

Great record sleeves are so easy to design!

But sometimes you need a talented painter...

...or a hot-looking (possibly underage) chick!
