Kim Newman said he was doing an audio commentary for The Black Torment for Indicator but that was several years ago now. For some reason it was assumed it would be for a Hartford-Davis set. As Corruption was released as a standalone and The Fiend released by 88 it looks like that has fallen through or Newman got it wrong in the first place. |

According to amazon UK it looks like 88films are releasing maniac in October cannibal holocaust in November the iceman cometh deluxe collection edition in November vigilante in November and Ebola syndrome in October blood and diamonds in November or October can't quite recall which one with a view other films but the only film that's missing is Jackie Chan's gorgeous so that film looks like it's going to be a USA & Canada only |

A Candle for the Devil as well. Nice. The Odeon dvd looked really poor when it was first released. |
88 are also releasing Ladies Who Do. Quite a bizarre one for them. A black and white British comedy from the sixties featuring Jon Pertwee and Robert Morley. Must be part of a job lot from Screenbound. |
Wonder if Ebola Syndrome has been submitted to the BBFC yet and will it suffer like Gestapo's Last Orgy? Definitely interested in Vigilante and interested in the extras for Cannibal Holocaust, I know there's a Commentary. This looks like a strong line up |
'Cannibal Holocaust' (1980) - 4K UHD [Blu-ray] [Region A & B & C] pre-order from Amazon UK - £25:00 Release date: November 28 "Primitive savagery meets the brutality of the modern world in Ruggero Deodato s timeless slice of visceral horror - Cannibal Holocaust, a film so violent and depraved that the director was charged with killing his own cast! Anthropologist Harold Munroe is hellbound as he travels into the green inferno of South America s rainforest in an attempt to find a documentary crew lost months before. Instead of survivors he discovers a world of cannibalistic excess beyond his wildest imaginings but when he returns home and screens the footage left behind by the eviscerated filmmakers, chaos erupts as the screen is filled with some of most disturbing images ever committed to celluloid. The ultimate video nasty is now presented as never experienced before -remastered in 4K from original sources" More info to be announced |
'Maniac' (1980) - Blu-ray pre-order available from Amazon UK - £20:00 Release date: October 24 " Following the disturbing story of blue-collar serial killer Frank (Joe Spinell), William Lustig’s violent slasher movie has become a cult classic in the ranks of the horror film fandom. In a plot which weaves in elements of Peeping Tom and Taxi Driver this early 80s horror fully delivers both a chilling character study and a gory exploitation piece. Dark, grimy and oppressively claustrophobic Maniac remains a firm favourite and an unmissable shocker. Presented here fully uncut for the first time ever from a stunning new 4K Restoration" More info to be announced |
'The Iceman Cometh' [aka 'The Time Warriors'] (1980) - Deluxe Collector's Edition blu-ray pre-order available from Amazon UK - £25:00 Release date: November 14 "From Golden Harvest, the legendary Hong Kong studio which had previously delivered classic Bruce Lee flicks The Big Boss, Fist of Fury and Enter the Dragon comes the fast-paced martial arts fantasy The Iceman Cometh. When 16th-century Ming guard Fong Sau-ching (Yuen Baio) sets out to capture vicious rapist Feng San (Yuen Wah) both men end up falling into a glacier to be frozen in time. Thawed out by scientists over 300 years later, the confused guard must learn to cope with the modern world and continue in his quest to vanquish his opponent. Fast, furious and fabulously entertaining, The Iceman Cometh rocks with time travelling Kung Fu vibes." More info to be announced |
'Vigilante' (1982) - Blu-ray pre-order available from Amazon UK - £17:00 Release date: November 14 "When Factory Worker Eddie’s wife is attacked and his young son is killed by a violent criminal street gang, he turns to the legal channels in the hope that justice will be served. However, he soon learns that the system is corrupt and to get the revenge he seeks he must join an underground vigilante group. Bought to us by Maniac director William Lustig and starring Fred Williamson (The Godfather of Harlem, From Dusk till Dawn) and Robert Forster (Jackie Brown), Vigilante packs a powerful punch." Thankfully Maniac will have reversible artwork. I have the superb BU 4K Edition, but I'll be buying this as a) I don't have a blu ray of it now,and b)It's good to see the brilliant Slashers Classics collection back. |

I think that Cannibal Holocaust will all depend on the extras, pretty sure we all have a version of the Film we're happy with. Also I believe that the 88 Films would be the 4th different UK distributor to release the Film? Vipco Black House (I think that's who they were) Shameless 88 Films There's a few with 3 like Zombie Flesh Eaters, Beyond, Burning...etc. TBH, I can see ZFE and/or Burning getting picked up by Someone like 88 or Shameless |

Shameless [cut by 15 seconds. Also available in 'Animal Cruelty free version'. However, some footage has been substituted with reaction shots of the actors] VIPCO - First release [cut by 5 minutes, 44 seconds] VIPCO - 25th Anniversary Release (Double Disc with 'House On The End Of The Park' on the second disc) [as above] Blu-Ray: Shameless [cut by 15 seconds. Also available in 'Animal Cruelty free version'. However, some footage has been substituted with reaction shots of the actors] 88Films - Cut status currently unknown |
The 88 Films one has been on the BBFC website since June, it says cut for animal cruelty due to legal reason etc... they no longer state how long cuts last for, just a simple yes or no for 'is the work cut' I would imagine it's the same cuts as the previous time, which is the knife killing of the Muskrat, roughly 15 seconds. |

Maniac as the same special features as the blue underground release but 88Films as got a new commentary by hysteria continues |

That probably tips the balance in favour of a purchase for me. |
I'll stick with my Blue Underground MANIAC and Grindhouse Cannibal Holocaust thank you. |

Ebola and Vigilante, possible Cannibal Holocaust, if the Extras are good. Perfectly happy with the Shameless DVD for the actual Film |
I'm not going to buy any of them  especially not Ebola Syndrome thank you very much. I will buy The Iceman Cometh and the as yet unannounced Jackie Chan in Gorgeous which is coming out in December. |
