Whilst watching Cannibal Holocaust, it got me thinking that with the regularity of releases, some of the Films are well known (To the Cult Market) and the Extra Features, that 88 Films may be the greatest Cult Film Distributers ever. I'm sure others will disagree, Shameless Films were kind of hot when they began, Arrow have gone off the boil, Vipco (were Vipco Lol) 101 Films, whilst have put out some interesting releases, The AGFA Titles are letting them down. I'm just basing it on the actual releases, not Customer Relations, change of Release Dates kind of thing. |

Looking at my library I do buy more 88 releases then anyone else, despite the slasher fans moaning I would say they have a better variety of films for everyone. Think I would agree indicator perhaps are the all round best company for quality though. |
88's pricing is getting ridiculous which is an issue for me. Twenty quid for Blood and Diamonds which has only a slipcase and booklet is way too much. By all accounts it's a dull film as well. |
Quote:
This my main issue as well £20 for a new release is too high for my budget. But what’s worse is bung it in a hard case and include a booklet and charge £25 for it, which especially stings when it’s some like Romper Stomper with no extras or Hatchet for the Honeymoon which I think has one supplementary interview included. Not all of the releases are equal. But to echo your words earlier, Indicator and BFI always offer value for money, although I understand it’s not the same market. |

Hatchet for a Honeymoon's been out years and still hasn't sold out in it's twenty five quid format. |
Did anyone actually get the Saucy 70's set in the recent sale? I'm asking because the sole Amazon review, a verified purchase, claims the audio on The Sex Thief is a mess. Keeps going from loud to quiet and vice versa all the time. Quote:

Stephen won't be pleased-it's the slim card digipaks ala Bloody Terror and Fu Manchu PH sets...... |
When I went into my HMV, I was shocked that Mardi Gras Massacre was out. I was even more pleasantly shocked that I didn't buy it. Normally I wouldn't be able to resist lol. Luckily I remembered that I have not seen any positive reviews for that Film. Granted I bought Cannibal Terror but I had only just bought my Blu-Ray Player that day, it was on a offer and it had some interesting Extras |

According to DVDCompare, the UK cinema version of 'Au Pair Girls' contained in the 'saucy 70's' set is cut! "'Au Pair Girls' - Blu-ray 'B Saucy 70s! A British Sex Comedy Threesome' United Kingdom- 88 Films Cuts: Yes - The UK cinema version as cut by 1:13 by the BBFC: - From 36:37, Anita (Astrid Frank) places a full length mirror on the floor of her bedroom. 0:06 is then cut of her standing over it, looking down at herself, whilst wearing a gown cut from below, up to her navel (and wearing not alot underneath - as seen earlier in both versions). Here, after placing the mirror on the floor, there is a 0:03 substitution exterior shot of a car. Cutting back to the bedroom, both versions resume with her stepping around the mirror to look out of the window, after hearing the sound of a car outside (not seen in the uncut version). So 0:03 cut. - From 63:14, Ricky (Steve Patterson) is dancing with Christa (Nancie Wait) and smoking a joint. 0:10 is cut of him handing her the joint, which she smokes and then hands back to him, at which point the cut version resumes as the uncut with him holding the joint. - From 66:06, the sex scene between Ricky and Christa, which should take 4:03 is cut by 1:06, with 0:06 substitution for continuity, a net 1:00 cut. The cuts are to simulated oral sex (Ricky on Christa), Christa astride Ricky (there is a non-consensual element throughout the whole scene in the cut version, but in the uncut one she is clearly enjoying herself). After they have finished, a second man enters (Buster, played by John Standing) and has sex with Christa. Here there are cuts to the initial struggle between them, this time to make it appear less like rape (84:29)" |
You haven't bothered to say that every other version on Blu-ray is also cut though, which they are. |
These sound very much like the Extended scenes for the Export Version, which are included as extras on 88’s Blu ray edition ! |

Mardi Gras Massacre doesn't have the extras to make me want to buy it. |

Okay, so the Blu ray of The Sex Thief in The Saucy 70s set. Yes, there are a few audio issues. The soundtrack on occasion seems to go at a lower level and then rises to above that and then seems to level out to normal again. I think about three times this is noticable. |

Has there been any specs released for The Whip and the Body? |

I've just preordered both of those. It's good to see new features of Hell of the Living Dead to make it an upgrade on the previous release in terms of supplementary material as well as AV quality. |

I’ve never seen House on the Edge of the Park, I might get it at some point but home invasion isn’t really my favourite kind of horror film to be honest. What do people think of it? |
Quote:
It's one of the few titles on *the list* that I thought was fully deserving of the 'nasty' tag!! |
Quote:
It needs to be seen in fully uncut form (I don't know if this new release is, BBFC and all that) to appreciate it i guess. However as far as Italian home invasion films go i've always preferred Last House on the Beach and Hitch Hike. I've never rated Hess like many folks do. (I know he's in Hitch Hike but that's a superior piece of film making all round) He's so one dimensional. A nasty piece of work and that's it. |
