I'm the same. I regulary paid 30- 50 for bog standard laserdiscs (US imports) in Tower Records in Glasgow, and had that Criterion RoboCop release too. I do think we're spoiled nowadays, and sometimes wish these young whippersnappers could go back an see what it was like, and maybe they'd be a little more appreciative of how good we have it now.

Seriously, I paid £20 for copies so blurry I could barely see them, all this Ultra HD, 4k is a bit of a technophile's toy shop thing, I mean how much clearer does a film have to be to enjoy it?
I'm actually of the opinion that modern films that are too sharp, too clear don't look real, case in point, Lord of the Rings movies looked astounding, there was dirt hitting the camera & they were shot on film, then Tintin & The Hobbit films come along & they look like videogames they're so sharp they don't look real! Ironic from the man who gave us the very low budget Bad Taste!

The number of features we're getting is also amazing! Remember when a commentary was a rare thing? Now they're standard fare and not very interesting in all honesty, lol! And there are just too many, I think Hostel had five commentaries! Really want to get city of the dead but don't know if I'll wade through all 3 commentaries on it!

Now see, that's what I love about this place, we can can have a laugh and a joke about people's quirks and over the top weirdness about things like artwork, without having a go at each other.

I think the dvd's of these films look great, be it 88, Arrow or the old Blue Underground and Anchor Bay releases. Yes the blu's will look better in most cases but dvd is a huge step up from what we all saw in the 80's & 90's.

Now i've said that watch the blu-ray snobs start having a go at me.

It's already out in the US, it's the same master used on the Raro release which is why people are complaining since that's been out for a year and everyone knew it was noisy. It's this one or the German release which I think was limited and sold out.
