Never noticed either and I've watched it twice. Maybe it's the shabby looking extended cut they're talking about ?

I used to enjoy Absurd a lot more, when I was younger. But it could be, because it was the very first Italian gore movie (together with New York Ripper on the same tape), I saw back in my early teens. Seeing them both now on blu-ray, Anthro sure have better locations (the house looks great), better gore, and more interesting characters. Absurd spends too much of the running time, with that incredibly boring family, watching football, and that annoying piece of shit kid, who I wish got eaten by Eastman. Visually it's boring, compared to Anthro. But I still have a weak spot for the movie, and the scene with the saw, is a highlight Anthro is insanely slow in the first half, but as soon as they reach the house, and the storm arrives, it actually becomes quite atmospheric. And thankfully, the hilariously horrible music also calms down a bit, and almost start to sound a little bit like an actual score. At times, it sounds like someone handed a Casio keyboard, to a bunch of deranged monkeys So happy with this release

Anthopophagous review: Anthropophagus (The Grim Reaper) "The remastered 2017 version from 88 Films (which is region free versus the region-locked earlier version), with the same LPCM English or Italian tracks and, in a nice touch, the addition of English SDH subtitles in addition to the English translated subs for the Italian version. The film has undergone some much-needed color correction that makes it a far more robust, impressive viewing experience; the blood is now a vivid red, skies are blue, and flesh tones look dead on. This release also corrects the tendency of several past transfers to try to brighten the film up too much in the middle of the film when the house is supposed to be shrouded in darkness and characters are walking around trying to see by candlelight. Here the day-for-night color timing and black levels are back down to where they logically should be; for instance, one key attack sequence with Eastman striking during a lightning storm should only show him in shadowy glimpses with his eyes and teeth flashing, an eerie effect absent on the previous two discs." I hope 88 Films gives all Italian films the same treatment, in the future.

It annoys me that they did such an awesome job on ANTHRO but such a mess on BEYOND THE DARKNESS.
