If you're a fan of Ealing, the new remaster of The Ladykillers looks rather spiffing too, highly recommended!

Oddly not really an Ealing fan other than Dead of Night. The Ladykillers is very good though.

A few years ago i was delighted to pick up Whisky Galore and ended up thinking it was proper 'meh'. Didn't exactly love Passport to Pimlico either.

Talking of Ealing films, watched Kind Hearts and Coronets the other day for the first time, proper classic stuff, I loved it. Dennis Price is a right shifty bastard in it.

For some reason halfway through the film Prices voice started to sound like Withnail to me, which made it even better.

That's the one where Alec Guinness plays all the roles isn't it? I've not seen it myself but I do plan to get around to it

Kind Hearts and Coronets is, with The Ladykillers, the finest of the Ealing comedies and one of the greatest British films of all time. Alec Guinness is amazing as multiple members of the D'Ascoyne family, but Dennis Price is the underrated star of the show.

I have the Vintage Classics Blu-ray release and it has excellent AV quality, so is highly recommended.

Both film are being restored and released in shiny new editions.

Can't wait for Invasion Earth. Not fussed about the first film though. I don't rate it much at all.

Studio Canal have a lovely new website for their Vintage Classics range.

Just click on a title and there's a wealth of material to see.

It's only when you see all those films together, you realise what a terrific back catalogue they have.
