The new artwork looks quite good from a distance but up close it's not so good.

I really like Cutthroat Island. Loved it at the cinema. It was the first and only pirate epic i saw, and it's one that i've upgraded from vhs to dvd and soon to Blu.

I know it doesn't have a great reputation probably because it was the movie that ruined Carolco, but i bet it still stands up nowadays.
I watched it just a couple of weeks ago. It was eye-rollingly bad in some places but it kept me watching. One of those guilty pleasures where if you are channel hopping, and you come across it half way through, you pause, and before you know it, you've stopped till the end

I've never seen Cutthroat Island; I know it had a troubled production, was slated by the critics when it was theatrically released, and has been cited as responsible for the demise of Carolco Pictures.

Even with that dubious reputation, or maybe because of it, I'm tempted to watch it to see how it compares to any prejudices I have.

It's a bit of an urban myth that Carolco went bust because of it. They were basically out of business before it even hit cinemas.

It's just a fun romp for me personally. I enjoyed it all the times i've seen it but can understand why others may not.

The fact i've read and seen it has a yellow tint to it is kinda putting me off a purchase now.

I'm a huge fan of pirate movie in general, and Cutthroat Island is one of the better post-60s efforts. Also: Geena Davis in pirate garb.

This would be a major no for me. I'll stick with my old DVD copy then...

I’ve seen the screenshots and I don’t think it looks terrible, no worse than Red Sonja. When you’re in the midst of viewing it’s usually not noticeable like it is when you have 2 different screen shots to compare against each other.

God, I hate steelbooks so much (yeah I know I said it before ) Especially when something like Cutthroat Island has the superior original artwork only on the steelbook.

According to google's lovely image search function, it's Turkish actress Elçin Sangu as Defne in the TV series Kiralik Ask
