You've gotta respect a guy that almost blew himself up with dynamite whilst on acid. Least that's what i heard. If Dennis Hopper didn't do it, it probably wasn't worth doing. ![]()

'HOSTAGE' [AKA 'SAVAGE ATTRACTION'] - Blu-ray pre-order available from Umbrella direct - $29.95 Release date: May 6th "The horrific true tale of Christine Lewis (Kerry Mack, The Lancaster Miller Affair), a naive 16-year-old who in 1974 Australia, meets a handsome German immigrant called Walter Maresch (Ralph Schicha, Nesthocker). Quickly married and in over her head, Christine discovers that Walter is a psychotic neo-Nazi who is hell-bent on controlling and manipulating every aspect of her life. Moving her to West Germany to be closer to his circle of Nazi sympathizers, she find herself in a life of domestic violence, drugs and armed robbery. Trapped in a nightmare, Christine must figure out a way to survive and escape back to Australia. The ambitious debut feature from Frank Shields (THE BREAKER, DEATH WAVE), HOSTAGE is one of the few Ozploitation films of the 1980s which delivers on its promise of true-story drama and full-force action, with a fast-paced story and the sensationalised elements fans of cult/exploitation cinema love - sex, violence, taboo scenarios - delivered here in abundance. "Hostage: The Christine Maresch Story is one of the very few tough, lively 'exploitation' films to have emerged in Australia. Shamelessly 'sensationalist', graphic and melodramatic, it reaches some of the expressive heights cinephiles know from the 'B' films of Edgar Ulmer, Joseph H. Lewis or Sam Fuller.†Adrian Martin, Australian Film “Constantly and convincingly shifts gear between exploitation, melodrama and thriller making Hostage: The Christine Maresch Story of the most arresting examples of the psycho-traumatic suspense thriller to appear in Australia.†– Albert Moran, Film in Australia" Complete with reverse UK video artwork. Sourced from the director's personal archive, running 2-minutes longer than the US release under the title 'SAVAGE ATTRACTION'. Special features:
