'Black Tight Killers' (1966) - Limited Edition Blu-Ray pre-order available from Radiance Films - £17:99 Release date: February 26 "After wooing stewardess Yoriko (Chieko Matsubara, Tokyo Drifter), war photographer Hondo (Akira Kobayashi, Battles Without Honor and Humanity) sees her kidnapped by a team of deadly female assassins who use vinyl records as weapons. Investigating her whereabouts, Hondo uncovers a conspiracy to steal a buried stash of WWII-era gold. Soon he must dodge go-go dancing ninjas and chewing-gum bullets to save Yoriko, whose family secret is tied to the hidden treasure. Every bit as stylish and inventive as the wildest works by his mentor Seijun Suzuki, Yasuharu Hasebe’s spy spoof is a gaudy 1960s pop delight that ranks with the likes of Joseph Losey’s Modesty Blaise and Mario Bava’s Danger: Diabolik!" 'By A Man's Face Shall You Know Him' (1966) - Limited Edition Blu-Ray pre-order available from Radiance Films - £17:99 Release date: February 26 "A community struggles against immigrant gangs in the ruins of postwar Tokyo. Only doctor Amamiya (real-life ex-yakuza Noboru Ando) can save them, but he had enough fighting in the war. His pacifism is severely tested by the gangs’ increasingly outrageous taunts and when his neighbours decide to take matters into their own hands, Amamiya is forced to take action. The consequences prove to be much more far-reaching than he could ever foresee. With a story spread across three time periods, Tai Kato’s ambitious revision of the yakuza movie was one of the first films to tackle the taboo subject of Japan’s Korean nationals, greatly influencing later directors such as Kinji Fukasaku and Takashi Miike." 'Allonsanfan' (1974) - Limited Edition Blu-Ray pre-order available from Radiance Films - £17:99 Release date: February 26 "After the fall of Napoleon, the Restoration begins. Fulvio (Marcello Mastroianni, La dolce vita), an aristocrat who has dedicated his life to the revolution has become disillusioned and his cowardice keeps him from joining his comrades. As he struggles to manage his evasion and lies he gets swept up in a suicidal uprising in Southern Italy. Stunningly photographed with lush period detail and featuring the Taviani brothers' trademark magic realism and absurdist irony, Allonsanf?*n has Mastroianni on top form as the reluctant insurgent and one of Ennio Morricone’s finest scores. Radiance Films is proud to present this essential film on Blu-ray for the first time in the world." Special features:

Tony Arzenta (aka Big Guns) Alain Delon (Le Cercle Rouge) stars as efficient and ruthless mob assassin Tony Arzenta. With a young family, Tony wants to leave his life of crime to ensure his young son will not get caught up in the revenge killing that so often accompanies people in his position. But the bosses don't make it easy and Tony finds himself on a bloody mission that takes him across Europe to eradicate his former employers. Delon delivers a haunted performance that is as stoic as the iconic assassin role he played for Jean-Pierre Melville in Le Samourai though firmly within the Italian crime film poliziottesco framework, Tony Arzenta delivers thrilling set-pieces and an emotional core that carries the narrative trajectory to the final nail-biting frame. This underseen crime classic from genre master Duccio Tessari (A Pistol for Ringo, Death Occurred Last Night) features an incredible supporting cast of poliziotteschi regulars including Richard Conte (The Boss), Umberto Orsini (Violent City), Corrado Gaipa (Illustrious Corpses), and many others. Now newly restored it is finally released in the UK for the first time. LIMITED EDITION BLU-RAY SPECIAL FEATURES New restoration, presented on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK Uncompressed mono PCM Italian and English audio options Archival interview with Alain Delon from 1973 discussing his work as an actor and producer and his future career A new interview with Eurocrime authority Mike Malloy on the film’s place within the poliziottesco canon Select-scene commentary with critic Peter Jilmstad on the incredible supporting cast of the film Trailer Newly translated English subtitles for Italian audio and English SDH subtitles for English audio Reversible sleeve featuring designs based on original posters Limited edition booklet featuring new writing by scholar Leila Wimmer Limited edition of 3000 copies, presented in full-height Scanavo packaging with removable OBI strip leaving packaging free of certificates and markings I really like this. Got it in a decent (ish) gray market release from Cheezy Flicks so will definitely upgrade as it's one i've returned to several times. |

Quote:
Unfortunately I think Danger Diabolik is owned by Paramount and it looks like Radiance have only been dealing with MGM as far as major American studios go. Paramount doesn't seem to do a lot of licensing with boutiques in the UK. There's been a few from Eureka I know, but it's a bit of an untapped studio in the UK. |
