The Sorrow and the Pity sounds interesting but a 4.5hr documentary about the Nazi occupation of France seems like particularly heavy going. It's certainly not going to be be 'Allo 'Allo!

It interested me but i came to the same conclusion. 4.5 hours is far too long.

I have the feeling it will be spread across two discs so you will have a good opportunity to spread out the viewing rather than watching it all in one go.

I'm also interested in One Eyed Jacks, since I'm not multi-region I never picked up last year's Criterion. By all accounts the Arrow version is a better offering (features wise) of the same restoration.

I saw The Sorrow and the Pity a couple of years ago as a Lovefilm rental and it is a terrific film, but I don't think it is something I would buy and watch with any regularity. If you have a Lovefilm account or a group of friends with whom you can circulate discs, whether in person or via post, it is a brilliant film which you should try and watch. I hope it will be available to rent so, when I resume my Lovefilm membership, I will be able to rent it and watch it again with the improved picture and sound quality.

'The Sorrow And The Pity' is actually an Arrow re-release

It was originally released by 'Arrow World' in 2009

Watching arrow's blu of bird with the crystal plumage in anticipation of the june limited edition, will the old release be discontinued? Or is the new one just a limited edit for superfans?

It most certainly will be discontinued (if it hasn't already) due to it being the incorrectly framed in 'Storaro Vision' and from an older master.

Arrow will no doubt release a non-limited standard version of the 4K release in the future without the fluff. I do like a bit of fluff though.
