Not in the slightest, no. It's a lightweight and fairly average film, not what I would've lined up for special treatment and a 4K remaster.

If you're interested, buy the standalone Blu-ray or the DVD set with the sequels.

That's why I get so annoyed with Arrow doing releases like this.

Alternately it's as much right to a bells and whistles blu-ray release as some Japanese film nobody has ever heard of.

That's a good point. It would be one thing if the Japanese film was an acclaimed masterpiece by Akira Kurosawa, Yasujiro Ozu, or Nagisa Oshima, but they would usually be films released by Eureka's Masters of Cinema series.

Although I have nothing against Deep Blue Sea and think it is perfectly entertaining, it's not one I would have said had a big enough fan base to warrant a release like the one they've announced.

Yeah, i agree. It's a bit like 88 releasing that Anaconda box set.

Others like Species for example do have a cult following but this one not so much really.

Having said that i remember loads about it and i haven't seen it in years. LL Cool J being hunted round his kitchen by a shark was a fun if very daft scene.

It has a following. Usually makes top 10 shark movie lists (although as I'm sure u r aware there's less then 10 good shark movies).

The interview with the production designer would be interesting since that was a good set.

Wish they had a new interview with renny harlin since he's made (6 movies in less then 2 years!) another shark movie currently in post with arron eckhart.

Throw in a book and a couple of matchbox size post cards and charge 45 quid is all i can think of.

The MGM release has Christopher Frayling all over it so a Kat Ellinger commentary just won't cut it.
It's worth bearing in mind that the current UK Fistful is heavily zoomed in with a lot of missing image from all sides. I own an Italian bd import because of that. It would be nice to see that issue corrected in the UK.

I'd get Terminal Man, but not as big box LE. I think Arrow should do some Scanova LEs like Indicator and Radiance. I would have purchased Terminal Man with that sort of treatment but now I'll just wait for the standard edition and get it in a sale. Deep Blue Sea will be a sale item as well.

Apart from Jaws, Open Water, and The Shallows, I'd be struggling with such a list. I'd probably include Deep Blue Sea because it's fun and Shark Tale because it's watchable, but that's only five!

I'm not familiar with the Jaws sequels, so they wouldn't be included.

Jaws 2 and the first The Reef are two of the very best shark films. Deep Blue Sea not so much. Sorry not a fan of it. It has great animatronic sharks but also a lot of very dodgy early cgi shark shots that sometimes make the film look a bit cartoony.
