When it comes to heavy metal Judas Priest are the single most quintessential band of the entire sub-genre. Sabbath's heavy, Priest is heavy metal. Ozzy is great, but there's no comparrison. His vocals are nothing compared to Halford's incredible range.

Priest never really had the popularity of the best metal bands, after all they are still only headlining halls rather than the arenas the likes of Ozzy, Maiden,etc do. Its their farewell tour as well.

I don't think it helped that Halford left straight after they released their best album - Painkiller, then on their reformation they released an, at best average comeback album with only the title track being of any note.

Couldn't agree more with you there, Dem. Perhaps that's one of the qualities that draws me to Priest more - how criminally underrated they are. It's a shame really. The Farewell Tour doesn't mean the end of Priest, just the end of their world tours - KK's idea, surprise surprise.

That was definetly a bad move (for both Halford and Priest) - although the Ripper stuff isnt that bad, and he too has a fantastic voice.

This thread has gone ever so slightly off topic. Ah who cares, there's always room for heavy metal!

I've tried reversing and slowing down some of these, and I still don't know what they are! Is that cheating? Because it made no difference! I guess Eyeborgs is one comp that will elude me.
