The BBC spend quite a bit of dosh on the show, so in many ways the BBC expect Dr Who to preform on the same level as Britain's Got Talent. So altering the time will probably not be suitable for the BBC. The BBC want Who to have at least 5 to 6 million viewers. I don't know how much the BBC spends on one episode, but probably just over a million.

True!

The BBC are looking at the longer term objective of making Dr Who bigger in other countries, but at what cost for UK Who fans? Some will say "so what", but other's will wonder why the show may no longer cater for UK fans like it use too. Certain aspects of Dr Who may change in the future, and not for the betterment of the show in general or the fans in the UK that made Dr Who what it is today.

They would be stupid to change it too much ,its the Britishness that makes it so popular abroad.

Stranger things happen. Never trust the BBC. After the way the BBC treated Who in 1985 and then during the McCoy years, I wouldn't put it past them.

Cynical I know, but Who has been treated with contempt in the past.

Saw The Lie of the Land last night. Hmm, well that was all a bit of a waste of time, wasn't it? It wasn't absolutely terrible or anything, but it all felt very rushed, half-baked and under-developed. As someone on another forum has noted, we've just had the equivalent of an old school six-parter - more than 2 hours of screen time - and yet there wasn't so much as one interesting and fully developed guest character in the entire thing. And the monks ended up a bit much ado about nothing as well.
Frankly, I suspect Moffat had the idea for Extremis and then had no particular idea of where to go with it from the end. Meh.
Still, Ice Warriors next week. Let's hope Gatiss was having one of his good days...

One good thing about the shockingly awful ratings, mind... at least Sylv doesn't (undeservedly) hold the record for the lowest ever now!

He will once the final ratings are published following the 7 day catch up. I expect it to be around the 5m mark.

Sadly Sylv didn't have such luxuries.

Oh and Treb. The US ratings are awful.

I'm guessing the Americans don't like Bill so much, or the simplistic stories lacking monsters.
