September 27th, 1963. The 'Pilot Episode' version of the first episode of Doctor Who's first story An Unearthly Child was recorded. However, due to producer Sydney Newman's dissatisfaction with the episode, it was not transmitted and was re-recorded, with some minor alterations to the dialogue, costumes, characterisations and direction

This unbroadcast version remained unseen by the public until 1991
