"A few tidbits about the season 25 boxset, due for release at the end of this month. As well as the as broadcast televised stories, Remembrance of the Daleks, The Happiness Patrol and Silver Nemesis will all receive special edition versions, comprising extended scenes and updated effects.

Remembrance will see updated effects to the Dalek weapons, and new footage added to the battle between Imperial and Renegade Daleks in part 4, as well as extended scenes including the Doctor's cafe speech, and presumably the "I'm far more than just another Time Lord" scene.

The Happiness Patrol special edition will see at least sixteen minutes of extended footage, pushing the story length up to the standard ninety minutes (the length of a four part story). A specially shot sequence featuring the Kandy Man's demise (we didn't actually see him get flooded by Fondant surprise as he tries to escape in the pipes) will also be included in this version.

Silver Nemesis will see a standard special edition, as well as the VHS extended version, and an omnibus version, but cutting out some scenes for the latter (notably the skinheads scenes, and Delores Gray as Mrs Remington scenes), along with updated effects.

The Greatest Show in the Galaxy doesn't have as much extended material, so won't receive a special edition disc as such. It will have the option for extended parts one and three however, and updated special effects. Extended part one will restore the cliffhanger as was originally intended. As the Doctor asks "Are we going in or aren't we", it will now cut to a close up of the Chief Clown waving, as Ace looks apprehensive (in the broadcast version, the Chief Clown can be glimpsed coming out of the tent and waving in the background, before cutting to the Doctor and Ace. The deleted scene feature on the original DVD shows the original intention of the cliffhanger).

Apparently there is no special trailer for this as with previous season boxsets, primarily due to the production being involved with the U.N.I.T spin off series. Curiously though a season 25 trailer will feature on the Remembrance of the Daleks disc

Yeah, Pete McTighe is one of the writers of TWB.

The trailer will be this one which was released showing new clips and over viewing the season but without any newly filmed footage.

That's a lot of extra footage for Patrol.
I wonder, though, as I felt that while the extended version of Fenric on VHS added to the story, the even more extended version on DVD (and the SE on The Five Doctors) was woefully unnecessary and cut for good reason. We'll see, I guess.

According to McTighe in the new DWM there are a couple of big surprises in the new special edition of Silver Nemesis.
