As we all know - the Italians were famous for ripping off / paying homage to whatever was popular in America, for example - Dawn Of The Dead = Zombie Flesh Eaters, Mad Max = Bronx Warriors etc. Do you lot think that sometimes the Italian homages were better then the films they were copying, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this because it's always interested me |

The Italian Exorcist rip offs were far superior to the original.....Antichrist and Beyond The Door ......

Wait till the Exorcist lover read this. This will make the Near Dark / L**t B**s debate seem quite restrained. |

Famously ZTF made money than Dawn, probably just better at sales and distribution. Can't think of a better example than that, still prefer Dawn tho.

I personally find Italian Post Apocalypse movies very watchable and a lot of fun, same goes for most Italian rip-offs, The Last Jaws for instance. Much more fun than Jaws and a better 'sequel' than Jaws 2, Hands Of Steel, whilst it's no Terminator is still a very enjoyable watch. Almost all Italian Zombie flicks have great merits and are a lot of fun and have well earnt their place in movie history. I think it goes without saying though that the only Italian genre riff to really get acceptance on a big scale is the all important Spaghetti Western. As always it's a matter of personall taste but I will never tire of finding old Italian rips of Hollywood ideas and will probably continue to enjoy them more than their U.S counterparts.
