I think perhaps this episode influenced Shyamalan a lot for the end sequence of Signs, using mainly sound to illustrate the invasion. I guess the weak point is the dumpy little men, but I suppose that helps mask the twist to a degree. The same twist that Matheson used in Third From the Sun, but dressed up differently. No complaints here though. Great ep. |

I love this one, a real classic. Agness Morehead carries the entire episode without a word of dialogue. Obviously the props and special effects have dated quite a lot, however I think the twist still stands up. One aspect that stood out was the horror tropes of the episode long before the horror boom of the 70s and 80s. --> Home invasion of a single defenceless woman by little "alien" creatures wielding weapons and even knives. Even with the context of the twist I'm amazed Rod Serling managed to get this on TV in 1960. Great stuff. F:S |
