I'm really interested to see this one. It sounds a lot like Walking Distance. And with Harlan Ellison's habit of suing people he thinks ripped him off I'll be interested to see if there's any similarity. (Please don't sue me if you're reading this Harlan). |

Well, it turns out I think it is actually linked to Walking Distance in a way. It's almost like its opposite number. They both went back to find something, their childhood experiences were pretty much the opposite of each other, as were their relationships with their fathers. Nice ending, and it makes this episode as a whole with The Beacon a pretty strong one. |

i thoroughly enjoyed this one. Im not sure if it was intentionally built to be like walking distance, but its hard to imagine they were ignorant of the classic episode. This one was a very nicely put together episode, well edited, great acting and nods in all the right directions. The section where he talking things out with his dad was especially moving. Definitely not one of the "misses" of these 80s episodes. F:S Last edited by fail:safe; 27th July 2011 at 06:31 PM. |

Probably my favourite so far. I thought it was going to end quite downbeat with gus stuck in a sort of loop. But when he sees the taxi driver, he realises all is well with his life. The scenes with his dad were particulary touching.
